About the Author

Consuelo Murgia was born in Rome in 1983. Her father comes from Sardinia and her maternal grandparents from Abruzzo. She has a degree (B.A. and M.A.) in Foreign Languages with a Major in English Literature. Due to her fondness for postcolonial literature she wrote her first dissertation about Andrea Levy and the Black British Literature, while the second one focused on Sri Lanka and the writers Leonard Woolf and Chandani Lokugé.

In 2004 she worked as a translator trainee for the TV channel RaiNews24 and in 2005 she received a scholarship for a German course in Vienna. In the school year 2006-2007 she worked as an Italian teaching assistant in Austria and in summer 2007 she taught Italian in Monterrey, Mexico. After her degree, she worked for several market research institutes and schools in Rome and as a freelance translator.

Her four Mexican travel diaries were published on the website www.paesionline.it, while a poem and a short tale appeared on SitoPreferito Magazine. The tale Monteperdido was published by Robin Edizioni in the anthology Racconti di Provincia.

Her third novel The Mexican Wife is available on Amazon (original title: La Esposa Mexicana; Italian edition: La Moglie Messicana) where you can also find her first novel Granito e Fichi d'India in Italian, her second novel both in Italian (In Crisi) and in Spanish (En Crisis), her fourth novel L'Anima Rubata in Italian, her short story collection Incubando Altre Storie, her collection of poems and drawings Le Mie Mani Da Mostro, her collection of poems Gli Occhi Di Una Mosca and the essays La Black British Literature e Andrea Levy and Lo Sri Lanka e due scrittori: Leonard Woolf e Chandani Lokugé.

She currently lives in Monterotondo with her Mexican husband and their daughter.
