I came across The Midnight Spy recently and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did!! Hamilton takes you on a wild ride through a unique and mysterious world with main character Nica. Nica's guts and daring make you fall in love with her from the start, crying with her at the lows and cheering at the highs. With a plot that keeps you guessing, hilarious, complex characters, and a mystical land unlike any other, Hamilton has woven a novel that will be on my shelf of favorites for many years to come. Full of heart-stopping twists and turns with just the right amount of laugh-till-you-cry moments sprinkled in, The Midnight Spy is for anyone looking for a book that will sweep you away into a dark and magical world you won't want to leave.

I’ve come to expect intricate plot twists and wonderful world building from Kiki Hamilton and her newest book, The Midnight Spy, did not disappoint. I was drawn right into the richly developed Kingdoms fraught with war, political corruption, deceit, murder, and kidnapping and of course, romance. The main character, Nica, hooked me from the moment she donned men's clothing and stepped out onto the ledge to spy. Kiki kept me guessing throughout, who was loyal to whom, who loved who, and just when I thought I had it figured out - another twist would make me doubt (along with Nica) who to trust. I strongly recommend this book. If you love books like, The False Prince (by Jennifer Nielsen), The Thief (by Megan Whalen), and Star Crossed (by Elizabeth Bunce) then you will love The Midnight Spy.
