In 1994, The Mistress Manual was born as a simple pink guidebook self-published by an experienced dominant woman. She moved on to other efforts, and the book fell out of print - much to the disappointment of thousands of eager submissive men and dominant women. Now, Greenery Press has brought this classic back to life in an updated new edition - perfect reading for the woman or man who has completed our Sexually Dominant Woman and is looking for more information. Covers everything from establishing authority to exerting discipline. (Don't miss its famous "Ten Rules for a Successful Mistress"!)

I really wanted to like this book, since the purpose and format of the book were exactly what I was looking for -- a guide for (potentially ambivalent / non-kinky) female partners of men who are interested in sexual submission. However I wasn't able to relate to the specific fantasies that the author spends much of the book describing. This book will probably be useful to you, if and only if you are interested in one or more of the five archetypes that the author asserts are central to femdom / guysub relationships: The nursemaid (vs. a diapered "infant") The governess (vs. a naughty schoolboy -- primarily spanking based) A queen (vs. a "sissy maid") An "amazon" -- described as a leather domme (vs. bondage sub) The goddess (vs. devotee) The book devotes chapters to each fantasy, after some general chapters. I didn't like the book mostly because these fantasies fail to resonate with me. The nursemaid and governess fantasies just seem juvenile, and I have no interest in the sissy aspect, so that rules out her version of the queen. Amazon is fine if you're into leather, and goddess is general enough to not be too off-putting, but why all the play-acting? I'd have preferred more on exchanging power as consenting adults without pretense.
Really not what it appears and plays to the myth of dysfunctional relationships. Not for anyone with desire for positive relationships or in developing a long-term one. Its mostly games and scenes.
