As members of the modern age, we sometimes feel disconnected from the world of the Bible. But if we look closely, we can see that although cultures change, our basic challenges stay the same. We still struggle with issues like community, justice, economic stress, political tensions, and cultural and ethnic differences. We still wonder who God is, how to discern His will, and how we fit into His plan.
Using historical context and fresh insights backed by biblical scholars, The Modern Life Study Bible explores the timeless truths that connect the people and stories of the Bible to the opportunities and demands we face today. God is at work in our world, inviting us to experience His presence.
With innovative, full-color illustrations, maps, and diagrams, along with special information on occupations of the Bible, profiles of people and places, theme indexes, and inspirational biographies of believers who put their faith to work, The Modern Life Study Bible will draw you in, helping you to know and embrace what it means to follow Christ in today’s world.

There are so many study bibles out on the market today that claim to be geared towards the average Bible reader, in an age when the number of bible readers continues to declined. Most study bibles have the notes as footnotes on a page, with interspersed articles and callouts in the text. Thankfully, The Modern Life Study Bible (in the NKJV translation) puts most of its information in articles and callouts instead of footnotes. This bible looks more like a well designed magazine, and it's user friendly layout and full color pages do a good job of drawing the reader into the text. The bible is well designed, all the way down to the physical product itself. The binding, dust jacket and pages all feel very nice, and the hard cover edition I reviewed is very nice. My only complaint (which is typical with any study bible) is the size of the book. It is a little heftier than some hardcover bibles I own, but I think it is worth it for the full color pages, study notes and biographical sketches throughout. If you are looking for a study bible that will give you practical guidance and useful information as you read God's word, check out The Modern Life Study Bible.
