Riley Smith can see and speak to dead people...many dead people... not a great thing if your dad happens to be a mortician. And they all need help! In this second installment Riley is tasked once again with helping someone from the beyond, this time a convict whose young daughter is dying and in need of a transplant. With the help of Hayden, the spirit of a boy in a coma whom Riley has fallen for, she races against the clock to save possibly more than one life. This was just as great as the first book! A page turner, I could not put this one down. And what a cliffhanger ending! I am waiting with baited breath for the next chapter in this great series!

Two Feet Under picks up where we left off in the first book. I love Riley and her ability to see ghost and also how the story doesn’t shy away from serious issues. Riley still sees ghost and is still trying to deal with this fact. I think in this book though she really starts to see the benefit of what helping the ghost can do. She’s becoming more comfortable with what she is able to do, and wants to help people. She continues to struggle with being able to tell anyone about her abilities though. Some people suspect, some people figure it out and some she has to reveal herself in order to help someone else. She has so many things on her plate that she needs to work through. I feel like you really see her grow as a character in this story and that is something I always enjoy. Hayden is still Hayden but I had mixed feelings about him in this book. I had figured out his situation in the first story early on but now that Riley knows about it. I wanted him to wake up but she is also dealing with him in a different capacity. So she can’t really be angry when people are upset over the possibility of him not waking up. He’s very much alive and well to her so I think it’s hard for her to understand why anyone would give up. I love the plot of Riley talking to ghost and helping them. It reminds me of shows like touched by an angel and things like that. Each book takes on a short story, while having the main story run along parallel. There are also some heavy issues dealt with in the book as well. Like Riley’s dad’s alcoholism and realizing there is so much she doesn’t know about her mom. It’s interesting to see her explore those issues. As well as her friend Kelsey’s issues as well. I really liked the ending. I think it was perfect. I kind of expected one part of it but I did not expect the other part. It will be interesting to see where her ghost encounters bring her in the future. As well as dealing with her own emotional loses. Book 3 is going to be a doozy for sure.

Just finished reading two feet under by C.C. Hunter and all I can say is I need the third book now! What a major cliff hanger. Riley has been visiting Hayden everyday at the hospital now that she knows who he is and that he is not dead, but Hayden is not too happy about that. Dead prison guy is still needing some major help and fast, his daughter is needing a liver transplant and the only person who could possibly save her is his brother, who is also a gang leader. This might just be Riley's most dangerous mission but it involves saving the life of a child. While dealing with the dead Riley still has some problems at home, her dad is still drinking, she wants answers about her dead mother, and what she discovers may just lead to unwanted answers. This book was very emotional but C.C. Hunter has the writing ability to make you cry and laugh within a few pages. I received an advanced reading copy through net galley courtesy of the author herself. This is the best book I have read this year!

Riley has come to accept talking to ghosts and helping them cross. But she is hesitant to help the ghost that died at the prison, especially since the last ghost almost got her killed. But she steps up when she learns what he needs, to help save his daughter. Unfortunately his brother is the leader of a bad gang and she is in for trouble trying to convince him to help his niece. Then there is Hayden, Riley has learned the truth and he is not impressed with her knowing. But she wants him to pull through and he will fight to live to keep her safe. Then there is Kelsey wanting to know what is going on. But if that was not enough it seems that her dad has been drinking to hide a secret about her mother. The story has amped up since the first book. There is more on Riley’s plate with the ghosts, school, and her family life. Where do I even begin? So I love Hayden and I understand why he is trying to hook Riley up with his friend. Come on dude, she loves you!! And her father, I hope we learn more about Riley’s mother in the next book. Riley has really grown with her gift but she still is very overwhelmed with everything going on. Thankfully she has those to help her. Now I can’t wait to get my grubby little hands on Three Heartbeats Away. I HATE cliffhangers when the next book is not published. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.

CC Hunter has done it again. This book made me feel so many emotions and I couldn't put it down as soon as I started reading. You really feel for Riley and all the other characters you get to know. You cant help but relate to them in same way. I honestly can't wait for the next book.

This book tore up my heart. It’s emotionally heavy and at times sad, but yet, it so, so, so GOOD. I ended up reading the book in one day, getting up only when absolutely required to. I just had to know what was going to happen next to Riley and all the moving parts. If you’ve read the first book you know she has ongoing issues with her father, there’s more secrets appearing relating to her mother and helping the dead sort out unfinished business are only half of her problems. I so want her friendship to grow with Kelsey. They are like two peas in a pod and I can only think of all the good that could happen if they stopped with the secrets. And then there’s Hayden…All my favorite parts involved him and Riley. Overall the story was a fast read for me that I absolutely enjoyed. I can’t wait for the next book! The Mortician’s Daughter: Two Feet Under was an exceptional sequel and one I know will stay with me for a while. If you love paranormal stories with a healthy dose of drama, mystery and romance then you should check out this series. I voluntarily received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Final Rating: 5 Stars
