The mountain will hide you.
The mountain will enshroud you.
The mountain will pulverize you.
Harvard student Zelda Morgan arrives at her childhood home in Gloucester, Massachusetts for spring break and stumbles upon a ceremony that changes her life forever.
She witnesses her father plunge a knife into a young woman sprawled on a large rock in the nearby woods nearby and recognizes her mother's voice singing a haunting melody.
Zelda questions her parents but they feign innocence, and soon afterward, they disappear. The only person Zelda can trust is her former high school boyfriend, Ken Blackburn. After her parents' car is found burned near a local restaurant, Zelda and Ken are pursued by two mysterious men with ties to a Nigerian fundamentalist preacher. When Zelda reports the crimes to the local sheriff's department, she and Ken are arrested for the murder of her mother and father.
After their release on bail, Zelda and Ken prepare for trial and dig deeper into her parent's lives, confronted by many mysteries. Her father's two hidden collections of books about the occult and ancient religions and his handwritten journals contain many clues that seem beyond anyone's capability to decipher. Zelda's vivid dreams both enlighten and puzzle her.
Zelda recruits two Harvard professors to help break the obscure codes in the journals, research the anomalies of "Sacrificial Rock" and help devise a strategy to prove her and Ken's innocence. She learns that the fundamentalist preacher in Nigeria is accusing children of witchcraft and torturing them in exorcism rituals.
Determined to end that abuse, she travels to Africa and fights back with paranormal powers acquired through her lucid dreams of the ancient god, Mithras, who reveals the sacrifices that must be made in order to save humanity.
But are the inter-dimensional race of aliens on their way to destroy Earth a reality or a dream designed to distract her?
