Elspeth Goldman and Rachel Crowne have a lot in common. They are both young, divorced, and Jewish. They look alike and share the same suburban Washington, D.C. community. But there's one big difference: Rachel is alive; Elspeth is deadmurdered just months before her second wedding.
The police are baffled by the homicide. Then Rachel, an investigative journalist, notices two disturbing people at the crime scene: a cross-burning white supremacist and the handsome, charismatic founder of the Church of Unconditional Love. Assigned to interview both men, Rachel later finds herself the target of chilling, anonymous phone calls. Then a psychic warns her of imminent danger. Could it be from the deadly attentions of a strangler?
