This Bible is so great that even though my father bought it for himself, it wasn't long before I appropriated it. (I did buy him a replacement...eventually.) Scofield's system of notes and verse references allows easy, uncomplicated access to the Bible's teachings within a dispensational, doctrinal framework. The text size and font is very easy to read and there is plenty of space within the margins and between the lines to take notes and insert underlines of your own. There are a number of maps and a fairly thorough concordance as well, and although the New King James may not be viewed as a fully reliable (that is, back-to-the-original-texts) translation, it's very easy to understand, and the Scofield system provides plenty of notes on alternate translations.
