This publication argues that no health care system can do everything that is beneficial
nor should it try to. The way forward, therefore, is the best management of the inevitable gap between supply and demand. To show how this can be achieved the book sets out the case for the way the NHS is currently financed, and looks at the tensions caused by this funding, past and present, to show how to proceed to a better future.
