From the bestselling author of Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes comes this rollicking adventure for young children. It’s not your usual bedtime story. This tale is chock full Nuts. Really! The characters are a family of nuts: Hazel Nut, Wally Nut, and Big Mama Nut. This book of wild silliness features colorful illustrations that pop, catchy rhyme, inviting rhythm, exuberant singing, and dancing with abandon. Despite Hazel and Wally’s attempts to avoid bedtime, Big Mama Nut prevails. She tucks in her sweet children, and the night is filled with peace and love. Teachers will recognize and appreciate the early literacy elements in this story. Great for story time groups or one-on-one. For ages preschool-1st grade. I can't believe that someone reviewed that he repeated the same story and song as "I Love My White Shoes!" I think this is Mr. Litwin's best book yet! My kids really love it, which is always a plus. But, I really love it, too! There are lots of funny little bits in there for the parents as well (look at the annotations in the illustrations). In my opinion this is a fantastic and identifiable story for parents and kids. You will love it!
Disappointed! after waiting years for his new book-- he just repeated the same story/song line as I love my White Shoes- why would anyone want to get kids all hyped up at bedtime- that's nuts!
We love this book. Our kids are really into it, and it will be especially good for bedtime reading. They really enjoyed the song on the book’s website and Eric Litwin’s other books too.
I love it. More importantly, my five year old twins love it. They asked me to read it (and sing it) (and howl it) 4 times over straight away. At bedtime I sometimes feel conflicted. It's supposed to be this sweet, affectionate wrap-up of the day. But often everyone is tired and cranky...and this story is a humorous bridge to that happy ending. By the end, Big Mama Nut has to use her biggest voice (bless her), and those little Nuts (they really are nuts) have acted just like my own little nuts. What a fun way to make light of ourselves and find peace and quiet. At the end, the pictures are more mono-chrome, darker, and calmer. The positive message brings security and love "no matter what." Then the sweet lullaby rounds it all out. My kids are ready, by that time, to quietly lie in bed and listen to this Mama Nut sing to them. Can't wait for the next Nuts story! I'm stocking up on this one to give as gifts.
This story is absolutely adorable! It is such a creative play on words. Our daughter just loves the characters and singing the songs. Keep these coming!
