About the Author

Wendy is a displaced Cheesehead, proud to have been born and bred in Wisconsin. She was a migrant worker for years in the radio business, until she landed in Ohio and refused to leave. When she isn’t writing for pleasure and publication, she is a TV newsroom assignment manager – a great job for her as she gets to tell people where to go and what to do! She shares her clean, yet perpetually dusty, house with her chef husband and two spoiled rotten cats. (One of who takes great delight in harfing up a hairball on Wendy’s pillow at 3AM.)

What an emotional ride THE ONE HE CHOSE is. Those who don't know me, I'm a bit of a sop, and cry at nearly anything remotely emotional. Ms.Burke sure made my tears roll with this lovely addition to Decadent Publishing's 1 Night Stand Series. One year after loosing her husband, Grace gets a letter informing her that her late husband has arranged a luxury weekend away in the Canadian Rockies. And not just any weekend away. Oh no. This weekend away is arranged via Madame Eve's exclusive match-making agency, 1 NightStand to which a date has been arranged for her. A date her husband has made for her. Such a selfless act, on her husbands part, and I really felt for Grace in her predicament. Both Grace and her late husband, Ben, have stayed with me long after reading the last page. To me, that's the sign of a well written book. Short is may be. But nothing was skimped in telling this tale!

I read a great deal of these ns1 stories and I like the format. This was a very sweet story and i loved it except for the ending.. the end of these format stories is generally a little clipped for my taste but this one was sadly left on such a sad note. Itb shoulg have at least continued back to yhe two of them at least hinting at permanency. Sad enings even though happy in context are not what i reas light hearted novellas for.
