The couple behind the viral "The Surprise Wedding" video share personal stories and practical advice about finding The One through faith.
Most people will admit that they are looking for an amazing love story. We’ve all seen those couples, the ones holding hands or whispering to each other as they stare into one another’s eyes as if they share an awesome secret. We watch them and wonder, what’s up with those two?
We never anticipated becoming one of “those couples.” When we met, we just worked on listening to God and preparing ourselves for the story he planned for us. What we learned and want to share is that no matter what your relationship status may be, this amazing story begins with you.
In this book we share more than the events happening around “The Surprise Wedding.” We share our triumphs and our mistakes, both before and after that day. You’ll learn healthy habits you can start practicing today, ones that will help you lay the groundwork for an incredible marriage later. God has something amazing in mind for you, but he can’t get you there without your help.
We absolutely believe in The One. And we believe that you’re it.

Who is willing to admit that they want an amazing love story?! I know that I sure am. What if I told you that your love story begins NOW–with you! Every little girl dreams of the day that she will one day wear a beautiful white dress, walk down a decorated aisle with her father on her arm, and say “I Do!” to the man of her dreams–the one she has been waiting for. Amanda Leak was the same way, she dreamed this way just like we do; however, her preparation time was cut a little short! What do I mean? She was engaged and married in one day. Yeah, you read that right… ONE day! I don’t know about you, but I just am not sure that I could do that. I may not be able to do that, and you may not either, but this was the Lord’s perfect plan for Ryan and Amanda Leak. Remember when I told you that your love story begins now, and it begins with you? Ryan and Amanda share their individual stories of “preparation” or waiting, so to speak, starting before they even met each other down to the moment they committed themselves to each other forever. As individuals, they were both totally consumed with God and living life committed to Him. The desire to be married was there for both of them, but they knew that the Lord had yet to bring the one into their lives. Instead of becoming complacent or choosing to settle in life and in love, they used their extra time to grow and become more like the Lord Jesus. They used their waiting period as a means to prepare for that one day that they would become one. Ryan and Amanda have a unique story that have inspired people across the globe, and I encourage you to pick up this sweet read, The One: An Amazing Love Story Starts With You. Maybe your engagement and wedding will not take place on the same day, but who knows maybe it will! In the mean time wait, grow, prepare, love others, serve God! Hey all! Here’s my review of The One by Ryan and Amanda Leak! Ryan and Amanda are known for their viral Youtube video of their surprise wedding. If you haven’t watched it or don’t know what I’m talking about then I suggest you watch the video on Youtube because it’s a beautiful love story. This is such a powerful book and if you’d like to know more then read on! I want to start off by saying that I absolutely admire Ryan and Amanda as people and a couple. They are so on fire for God and I love how they use their relationship to honor Him. I’m a single, 20 year old, Christian girl, who wants to find “the one” I can serve God with and I just loved reading about things I can be doing now to prepare myself for the one God has for me. Ryan and Amanda give so many useful ideas and tips you can start doing today. They share powerful stories about themselves and their relationship that all left an impression on me. They not only have things for single people but for people who are in relationships as well so please don’t think it’s geared for just single people. A lot of the points in the book I knew I wanted to do and hold value to and to know that I’m not alone or crazy for wanting these things and a certain type of relationship has sparked my fire all over again. I haven’t ever attended one of their public speaking events and I’ve never talked to them but I can just feel the love for each other and their desire for wanting to help people come through this book. The thing I loved the most was they urged that God has a special story written for you and that your story won’t be the same as someone else’s story and that’s what makes your story special. I would definitely absolutely 110% recommend this book to everyone! This isn’t just for girls or single people, it’s for everyone! I also would definitely recommend parents giving this book as a gift to their older teen who is starting to think about marriage and what kind of relationship they want to have. God can definitely touch hearts through Ryan and Amanda and this book. I love it. 5+ stars! I received this book for free from Blogging For Books Program in exchange for my honest review.
The Comparison Trap was my favorite chapter and having a mission/vision statement for your marriage was a great idea.
