Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
This volume provides information on 298 institutions that offer more than 1500 media-assisted courses (i.e., courses via correspondence, videocassettes, local cable television stations, online services, and computer tutorials) for academic credit. The institutions are arranged geographically by state and include colleges, universities, umbrella organizations, and official state groups. Entries provide such information as admission requirements, tuition, degree credit, library services, regions in which the courses are available, and type of delivery system (e.g., television, computer). Course descriptions detail the purpose and content of the course, and many include the number of lessons, exams, and credits earned. Entries are cross-referenced by subject, delivery system, and institution indexes. There is also an appendix of institutions providing nationwide and worldwide access. The price may be steep for some libraries, but nothing currently available has the scope of this excellent guide. Recommended for public and academic collections.-Barbara S. Meagher, Central Connecticut State Univ., New Britain
