Cursing ruined an otherwise decent story.

A strong, Alpha hero with an equally strong heroine passionately working together to help the hero’s young son, who has been seriously burned in an auto accident. Kate is a driven surgeon who doesn’t have time for love and Patrick’s sole focus is his son, but in the course of caring for the boy’s injuries, they come together to find a life and love with each other. Based on a true story, “The Passion of Patrick MacNeill” was my introduction to Virginia Kantra’s books and to this day, remains one of my favorite books of all time. I can’t count the number of times I’ve re-read this story!! Virginia has a tremendous gift writing relationships and family dynamics – she always pulls me into the story with lush, believable characters and powerful, intense feelings. And, honestly, if you don’t have a lump in your throat and/or tears in your eyes at the prologue of this book, you have NO soul!!

A hero meets his match! Virginia Kantra’s The Passion of Patrick MacNeill is a lyrical, heartwarming, and divine story. Marine hero, Patrick MacNeill struggles with trying to make right his son’s life; after the child suffers burn injuries from accident that also claims the life of the child’s mother and Patrick’s. Patrick is used to doing things his way. Enter surgeon Dr. Kate Sinclair, passionate, strong; and confident in her advocacy for her patients. She’s always depended on herself. She too is a “fixer” of all things. When these two clash over Patrick’s son's treatment sparks fly – especially, as they try to figure out a way forward to a real, happy ever after. Add in two meddling and hunky brothers and a sweet, lovable, and rough-and-tumble little boy – and it’s magic as only Virginia Kantra can weave! Keep the tissues close by. This story is a keeper.

This book should have been called the indecision of patrick macneil or the insecurity of kate sinclair. Calling it the passion of.....makes one belive it will be passionate and disappoints one when it is not. I felt like the story drags character development felt drug out and overly dramatic. By the end I didn't care if Kate and Patrick got together anymore I just wanted them to hurry up and do it so the book would be over.

I got this book for free and desided to read it to get it off my nook, well I couldn't put the book down or delete it from my nook. I liked the story and the characters. I will buy the others in the series.

The author, Virginia Kantra, builds quite a nice story with a unique Romance triangle-- doctor/patient/patient's parent -- That loses some of its believeability, but not it's believeableness, along the way. But aside from that, all facets are used to create a most interesting 190 page of entertainment ... until the reader gets to the conclusion which wraps up so quickly, I thought I had skipped past three or four pages. That was disappointing, although it was the right conclusion for an otherwise very nice story. Liked it very much.

I enjoyed the development of the characters. The way they found each other and their hearts. This is no cliff hanger!!

This was an okay novel. Not much suspense to really get me iinto it. The author spent far too much time getting into gooey and mushy detail about eroticism of her fickle feelings. There really wasnt much of a plot to the story. 217 pages

Even though my paper copy of this book is with all my treasured keepers, I still pounced on it as soon as it was released as an ebook. This book gave me a respite when I was going through a very tough time. It's well-written, thoughtful and moving. I'm pretty sure Virginia Kantra went on my auto-buy list in the strength of this book alone. (If not, it was after the next book. She remains an author I buy on name alone.)

The Passion of Patrick McNeill is an amazing story that's at times heart-wrenching, often heart-warming & touches the soul. I've lost count of how many times I've read this book. It NEVER, ever gets old. Beautifully written, with wonderful characters, The Passion of Patrick McNeill is everything a romance novel should be - and more! Don't miss this one but beware - the prologue will leave you in tears; have tissues at hand!

Kantra has a lush writing style that I really admire and characters who are well-rounded and believable. Not to mention that her MacNeill heroes are luscious enough to eat.

I really enjoyed this book & I cried some also. I read this was based a true story & I'm sure it is. I admire doctors & nurses that could deal with burn patients. I did think it ended a little abruptly & could have used an epilogue. 197 pages. GJRA

I enjoyed this story about a little boy who had been in a car accident as a baby and was badly burned. His father, Patrick, had cared for him, neglecting his own life for years. When young Jack connected with burn surgeon, Dr. Kate Sinclair, and she offered a different opinion on Jack's treatment, Patrick admired her skills. While Kate was an exceptional surgeon, her personal life sucked. She grew up with a beautiful sister so she always felt unattractive. Between that and having one relationship with a jerk made her swear off relationships. After losing his wife in the car accident, Patrick thought of nothing but his son's recovery. He never even considered a relationship. This could have been a sad story but it wasn't. With the help of a little boy, this couple found hope and love.
