The Perfect Boyfriend by Renee Novelle, R.S. Novelle

Book #2 in the Boyfriend series.

The Perfect Boyfriend picks up right where we left Reagan and Ian in The Boyfriend List.

As their friendship blossoms quickly into a steamy romance, Reagan and Ian have to learn to navigate their shifting relationship...and everything that entails. But their newfound bliss doesn't come without a few unexpected challenges.

In the midst of realizing just how sweet the romance can be between them, and all the benefits of their new dynamic, Reagan is informed that her ideal situation has changed. Not only will she need to begin taking on more classes to speed up her graduation date, but she'll also have to start looking for a job to supplement her fading income. Meanwhile, Ian has chosen to pull out of school once his father is diagnosed with a terminal illness in order to help manage the family business and spend time with him while he still can. But he wrestles with the guilt of leaving Reagan behind, and the pressure of his new responsibilities.

As the two meet their new challenges head-on, they'll be forced to discover whether or not they're as compatible as lovers as they were as friends. With their focus pulled in so many directions, will they have what it takes to keep a long distance relationship alive? Can Ian prove that he's still be the perfect boyfriend, or will they fold to statistics under the growing tensions of their lives? Throw in some manipulative exes, a new boss with an inflated ego, and a co-worker from hell and the two have a recipe for either a fairy tale ending, or a complete disaster.

The Perfect Boyfriend is a New Adult Romance about trust, love, and discovering the true depths of personal strength.

With a title such as The Perfect Boyfriend, in my opinion you know the books in going to be good and Renee Novelle doesn't disappoint in her latest novel which is the second story in the Boyfriend series. As the novel carries on from the first book The Boyfriend List readers are treated to the progession of the relationship between the two lead characters - Reagan and Ian and all the challenges that a relationship entails. This book will have you laughing at peak moments, heart-wrenching at others and just overall feeling good. Novelle is very talented in her ability to connect with the readers to make them feel what the characters in her book are feeling, which is something not all authors can do. The characters go through a personal growth in this novel, learning how to trust one another - a key foundation in any relationship which is never easy. It is easy to connect with a character whom you have experienced the same type of choices/feelings, because we all know giving your heart and soul and trust to someone else and giving it in its entirety is very scary. However, Novelle writes so eloquently that readers can identify with what both Ian and Reagan are both feeling and the actions that the two characters follow through with is so very true to them and to human nature. It was also great to see how Raegan had transformed into this more secure women as the personal growth that she developed through the course of the book was so stunning and so refreshing. Renee Novelle didn't disappoint with the steamy scenes either - which always make a book just a little bit better in my opinion. Readers will be treated with passion, desire and all of steamy sex .... Be forewarned :) A must add to your To-Be-Read Shelf.

This books starts right where The Boyfriend List leaves off.  The beginning of the Perfect Boyfriend is actually a re-write of the last chapter of The Boyfriend List and it takes it from there.  I like this idea because many times when reading a series, I will read the last chapter of the previous book to remind me where everything left off. Reagan and Ian is such a great couple.  She is beautiful but doesn’t see it so she is very grounded and unaware of her beauty.  Ian is handsome and could have any girl he wanted and choses Reagan and treats her like gold.  It is such a sweet story but also has conflict, worry, anxiety, sadness, and anger mixed in. I really enjoyed The Boyfriend List and was curious as to what new storyline could be added to this second book.  The author was successful in continuing the story without having it be a repeat of the first book.  She brings in the same characters from the original story as well as introduces new ones.   We finally get the story behind Isabella’s vendetta against Reagan and boy is it a good one!  However, I still can’t sympathize with Isabella. There are enough forces trying to tear Reagan and Ian apart that you wonder if they are going to make it.  Reagan’s insecurities coupled with Ian’s past lead to situations that have everyone questioning if this love will make it. This is a great book and I look forward to the next one in the series!

I really enjoyed reading The Boyfriend List, the first book in Renee Novelle's Boyfriend Series and was eager to begin THE PERFECT BOYFRIEND almost immediately afterwards. I am very happy to be able to say I liked it even more. Partly because for me, with a good sequel it always feels like I'm hanging out with old friends, or at least it should, and The Perfect Boyfriend certainly does.  Reagan and Ian are solidly together after a little bump in the road named Isabella that occurred in the first book. They are each preparing for a very special "first date" to begin their transition from best friends to lovers in a very memorable way. Petra is making sure Reagan is dressed to impress Ian in a way he will never forget and Ian pulls out all the stops to make the night as romantic as possible for Reagan. The following quote alone should show just what a perfect boyfriend Ian really is and give you an idea of what a sweet love story Renee has written. I dare you not to swoon a little. “This isn’t just another first date. This is the beginning of forever for you and me. And if you decide that’s not what you want down the road, that’s fine. But Reagan, my intentions aren’t just to find another short-term girlfriend. I want you, all of you, for as long as you’re willing to give me.” As in The Boyfriend List there are people and situations that test their young love, and make the story more interesting, but it all works out and ends in a very romantic scene with more tender declarations of lifelong love from Ian.  Along the way, Reagan and Ian both learn some hard life lessons, mature a bit, and find comfort and security from each other. Reagan's best friend, Petra is once again hilarious and absolutely the kind of friend everyone wishes they had in their corner. All in all, The Perfect Boyfriend is a well written book with delightful characters and a slightly steamier storyline than The Boyfriend List. 4 stars ~Complimentary copy received in exchange for a honest review.

This is book two in the Boyfriend Series Yes, book one needs to be read before you read this book. This book starts off right where book one left off. I gave this book 5 stars.  Reagan and Ian have to learn to love each other as life starts to fall apart around them. They are confronted with several situations that would destroy any normal couple just starting out. But this is Reagan and Ian they are the best of friends. I loved how much more confident Reagan was in this book. She has grown so much. I felt for these two and all the things that they had to go threw. I wasn't sure what kind of conflict that was going to happen to them in this book, but the Author kept me captivated and turning the pages. I love this couple.  This book is also a lot steamer then the first one! It is a must read. I will be reading a lot more from Renee! Thank you for an amazing book!!

It was great to pick up exactly where I left off with Reagan and Ian in The Boyfriend List. I was a little apprehensive about starting this book because of the way the first book ended.  There is what I though was a HEA but turned out to be a Happy For Now.  You can't have a second book and not have conflict between Reagan and Ian.  I must say Renee met my expectations and my fears were unfounded. I loved how much more secure Reagan was in this book.  Of course it wasn't easy for her and I admire her for working hard to get to that place.  I felt so bad for her and Ian.  Their relationship was so new and they had to face so many hurdles.  My heart broke for Ian and the situation he found himself faced with. I feel like I flew through this book in no time.  It's well written, fast paced, and much hotter then The Boyfriend List.  I'm sort of looking forward to seeing them tackle the challenges that come their way in the next book, but I shudder to think of the obstacles they will face.

What a wonderful, sweet romance. I really enjoyed this read – but I have not read the first book in the series and think if I had it would have made it even better (my bad – it says this story picks up right where the last one left off, so I should have listened!)  I really enjoyed Reagan and Ian’s story. Although she has found the perfect boyfriend, life certainly throws Reagan and Ian some curveballs, which makes their relationship anything but perfect. I loved the fact that Ian was just what he seemed – a great guy who truly cared deeply for Reagan…and the things he would say to her…*sigh*… ****“This isn't just another first date. This is the beginning of forever for you and me. And if you decide that’s not what you want down the road, that’s fine. But Reagan, my intentions aren’t just to find another short-term girlfriend. I want you, all of you, for as long as you’re willing to give me.”**** Reagan tended to create her own drama. Her insecurities and self-doubt often crept in and had her doubting her relationship with Ian or their ability to handle a long distance relationship. Thank goodness for her friend Petra, who was my favorite character in the book. She was like a breath of fresh air and is the friend that you wish you had or the type of person you wish you could be (well, maybe not all the time!) She had a way of grounding Reagan and I just loved her, always giving great advice, helping Reagan see the truth in things, and even helping plot revenge when necessary. ****And as Petra began devising her scheme, her face lit up with mischievous energy. The kind of energy Reagan had seen a hundred times before. That kind that had gotten her in trouble and saved her ass on countless occasions. It made her feel both a thousand times better, and immeasurably nervous at the exact same time.**** All in all this was a quick, fun read that left me with a smile on my face at the end. Sometimes you just need a sweet romance, and this is definitely in that category! I was given a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

The Perfect Boyfriend is the follow up to The Boyfriend List and I must say it's a great sequel. I really enjoyed the first book of the series and was eager to read this next one. The story starts off right where the first book ended as Reagan and Ian come to terms with their feelings for one another. I really enjoyed reading about the growth of each character as they both have to overcome a few obstacles to try and make their romance work. There are some rocky moments and the reader has a slight panic attack...I know I did. I also loved the fact that there were some steamy scenes in there...LOL. You can't go wrong with that. Ian is such a great character. His sexiness yet humble personality just melted my heart. I adored Reagan's determination as it added the right balance. The connection between Ian and Reagan is so genuine and sweet. They make a very cute couple. I loved how Ian constantly cared for her and worked so hard to get her to open up. “This isn’t just another first date. This is the beginning of forever for you and me. And if you decide that’s not what you want down the road, that’s fine. But Reagan, my intentions aren’t just to find another short-term girlfriend. I want you, all of you, for as long as you’re willing to give me.” I absolutely loved Petra. That girl just rocks in this story and I'm hoping she gets her own story. Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable read. I finished it in one sitting and am eager to read the continuation the series.

I was so excited to be able to preview this book! Having loved book one and wondering where the story could go, I was pleased to hear the author created book 2. As with life, the story takes some twists and turns that should challenge any well established relationship, much less one that is just budding. During some very difficult situations you see these characters mature, learning that putting the needs of others first makes you a stronger partner in a relationship and helps them to understand the importance of never jumping to conclusions, never second guessing and always trusting that true love is a very real, very live, very evolving thing, Even with all the issues the couple, their friends and family confront, there is still a very sweet romantic story line that runs throughout. This was a very well thought out and written story that was a very enjoyable read.
