There is big difference between having a job and having a career. With a job, yes, you could earn a good paycheck, but will you be happy in the long run? For people who are currently at a crossroad in their lives career-wise, The Perfect Fit For Careers for Christians by Latrice Collins is a perfect guide to help you not only figure out how you can thrive in a career that you want, but also discover how you as an individual are special in your own unique way and already possess the talents you need for success. The Perfect Fit For Careers for Christians is the newest addition to the long line of brilliantly written books by Latrice Collins. There may be thousands of guides out there about how to find the right career for you, but what sets Collins’ book apart is that its foundation in knowing your career brand model is based upon professional development tools and techniques as well as upon Christianity and faith. The book has a skillful flow to it, starting from a chapter called The Character of God at Work, which briefly talks about how our actions and behavior toward God and toward other people greatly determine how we will ultimately function in the workplace. The book goes on to discuss about details of the human character, recognizing and acknowledging your strengths, and ultimately benefiting from those strengths in your career. Collins also makes sure to share her own experiences, which make the book even more special. Readers will be able to relate to it on a personal level, and Collins’ stories of how she was able to be successful are nothing but inspiring, especially because she is always so grateful and reflective all the time. Overall, The Perfect Fit for Careers for Christians makes for a perfect gift to friends, with its clever combination of the technical know-how about professional development with the element of spirituality and faith—all important ingredients in succeeding not only in a career but in life.

After reading and basically “assimilating” every helpful tip and life-changing bit of enlightenment in Latrice Collins’ ‘The Perfect Fit for Careers: Securing Your Perfect Job by Identifying, Refining and Enhancing Your Career Brand’’, I’m just glad to find that there’s a special version of the book that speaks to Christians. ‘The Perfect Fit for Careers for Christians’ has that same powerful life-transforming message about how to find and enjoy the career you want, but thoughtfully addressing the  This book still have the powerful guidance in that other mentioned book, but with the wonderful addition of asserting the importance of the whole personal branding effort from a Christian or spiritual perspective. For me, that element makes all the difference and sets this book apart from all the other career-defining books out there. For instance, this book helps you take into account what you have—your own experiences, expertise, image and everything that makes you uniquely YOU—in order to serve as a springboard for further improving your “personal package” into something that will allow you to get and enjoy the career you really want.  Moreover, the book also brims with empathy and hope—spiritual elements rare for a book on career advice—thereby sending a compelling message about the need to keep your soul and integrity intact, no matter what you do for a living. It’s interesting to note that the author, Latrice Collins, must have written the book from a deep place in her heart: having survived cancer, Latrice is in that unique place to offer not only actionable information, but the information she provides is also deeply felt—you can feel her sincerity with every word in this book, and for me, that only enhanced the motivation to “seize the day,” so to speak. Overall, another fascinating book from Latrice Collins—I love how the author walks the extra mile to ensure that anyone who purchases this will find a book that’s so comprehensive and complete, effectively capturing her years of experience as a corporate strategist and career counsellor. This book deserves a permanent place in your references shelf—get a copy!
