Well-crafted love story Perfect Storm is the sixth book in Rhonda Laurel’s Blake Boys series. I think it can be read as a stand-alone novel, but a lot of the backstory regarding character development will likely be missing for a newer reader. In some areas, the story might come across as disjointed without the background knowledge. This story, in particular, focuses on the eldest of the Blake Boys, John Jacob Blake Jr. aka J.J. J.J., former quarterback of the Denver Colts, is newly divorced from his wife of seven years, Eden Masterson-Blake. The book opens with J.J. recounting one last hurrah with his ex-wife before he puts her in his rear view mirror and forges ahead towards the next phase of his life. During a security audit for Blake Enterprises, J.J. encounters security expert, Samantha Jane Carson, who pretty much knocks him off of his feet. J.J. is smitten with Samantha the moment he lays eyes on her. Samantha is spunky, dedicated to her job, headstrong and loving. She’s basically the complete opposite of Eden. It’s obviously difficult for Sam and J.J. to get anything off the ground since she technically works for him. Reading about the two of them navigating the complexities of their relationship was pretty amusing. I really enjoy Ms. Laurel’s writing style. In the world of the Blake’s, you’re immersed in a tight knit family that cares for one another. The women who hold the hearts of the Blake men are special and are treated as such. I think the only thing that was missing for me here was a little more background on Sam. She briefly talked about why she’s estranged from her family and her relationship with her ex who passed away but I would have liked to know a bit more about those aspects of her life. Overall, I thought this was a well-crafted love story. I’d recommend this book to others but I would say to dive into the series first instead of reading this book as a stand-alone. You will be glad you were introduced to the Blake clan. I have book seven, Slow Burn, on my Kindle and I cannot wait to dive in! I’m a hugeeeee fan of Ms. Laurel’s work. My recommendation would be to read the series now and join the roller coaster ride. Who doesn’t love a family full of hunky good-looking men who treat their women right? -Reviewed by Natalie

It was a very great read, very entertaining! I was happy that J.J fund himself a strong woman that won't take any crap from anyone including him and most importantly she made him happy. Can't wait to read the next book should be just as good if not better.
