Story is very slow. All of the characters lack in development and achieveing their goals. Other characters introduced and their storylines go no where, oh wait they die but we don't know how.

Felicity was looking for her big break. As a journalist, she had to go where the story leads, but when the current big story led to a private BDSM club, Felicity soon realized she may have gotten in over her head. In the beginning of the book Felicity seemed to know what she wanted out of her life and was resolved to get it. However, the author gave her room to grow and change, which is always a great thing to be able to see in a story. Together with her best friend, Allison, there were a lot of fun moments in the story. And of course there was Alistair...He was everything a dom should be - sexy, dominant, demanding, but he knew where to draw the line. Oh, and did I mention the accent? Swoon. The chemistry between the characters in this story was fabulous. There were some great relationships, which helped tie the whole story together. The story itself was quite engaging with a great story line, plot twists included. The outcome wasn't obvious halfway though the book, which is always a plus. The author paid attention to detail and didn't skimp on anything! I enjoyed this story and will be looking for more work from this author.

The Pleasure Room ... just like the name implies is a story of an ambitious rookie journalist and the BDSM Master who shows her how to shed her inhibitions and finally find herself. There is a sub plot which is interesting. Rookie journalist trying to gather facts regarding the Chicago Mayor with a taste for kink, while playing the family man to win his re-election. This is what drives Felicity to the BDSM club initially. What she finds there is shocking, intriguing and titillating to her, in addition to the willing Master and owner of the club, Sir Alistair. The sound of his British accent is only one of the many attractions she finds. The man is full of charisma and gentle dominance on the surface. His willingness to introduce her to the lifestyle is just one perk she cannot pass up. This also opens the doors to the sex club where the Mayor frequently carries on his trysts with Mistress V. The only thing left is to coordinate how Felicity can film the Major in less than "family oriented positions" so she can bring him down. Lives are threatened, some don't make it, and through it all the main theme remains the introduction of Felicity to Alistair's lifestyle. This book was interesting, erotic, and instructional. It does go deeper into the BDSM lifestyle than I have read before. There are some very strong, raw scenes ... but you must remember this is erotica with a plot line. This is not sex just for the sake of writing a titillating story. There is more to these scenes than just eroticism, although the author's talented writing makes it an easy read. This book is recommended with caution. This is for the reader of erotica that is adventurous and intrepid.

This is an adult book that has a lot of adult themes. BDSM is the most obvious, however there is a lot more. This is erotica. I have read the author's Knights of the Darkness Chronicles and I absolutely loved them. This book is also one that I enjoyed. The main character goes undercover, and gets more than she bargained for. The book reminds me of Eyes Wide Shut. I liked the characters and found myself laughing and wishing them happiness. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

The story itself was definitely a bit slow to get going with the scene set up and background information to carry the story forward. That said, when it took off, it was flying.  This was an amazing ride.  This was a very explanatory and exploratory story.  Simmons melded both aspects together in her story to create a well-rounded whole.  Her evocative descriptions make everything come to light in vivid clarity.  Simmons also took a very different stance on the BDSM subgenre.  You get to see it from the inside, the outside, the top, & the bottom all with a single character.    And, on to the characters.  I absolutely loved Alistair.  He was a great lead male for this novel.  He walked the line between uber-dom and nice guy.  He was definitely the whole package.  Felicity was a whirlwind.  I loved how she was developed and watching her thought patterns change based on her experiences. The best friend, however, annoyed the hell out of me.  Every time that she was in a scene I was tempted to walk away from the book.  Luckily I was quite caught up with the main characters.  They kept me coming back.    This is definitely one of those novels where the story is in the details and the journey.  It was an interesting read that would be great for those wanting to see both sides of the world of BDSM, the outside & the inside. It’s also a brilliant read for those looking for a steamy thrill ride.  And one of the best parst?  This hot, steamy, suspenseful novel is a standalone!   Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
