Breckenridge III, an easygoing yet disciplined cowboy in the 1880s and '90s, is drawn from Reno to a small town in Arkansas by what he believes is divine intervention. On the way he has a number of mysterious adventures, and finally confronts an old Indian who is conducting a sacred ceremony on hallowed ground.
