Alright, I'm not really one for reviews, because I tend to randomly ramble and make little sense, but I'll give it a go. This book by Jennifer Anne Davis is an adult book. On her website, she says you ought to be seventeen and for the most part, I agree. There is definitely some violence and some language in the book. However, I do think it's friendly enough that someone who is fifteen or sixteen could read it, but I would recommend a parent read it first. I have read books that were adult books younger than seventeen that definitely had more adult content, but I can't swear that was a good idea. So i would recommend that if you're under 17, you should ask a trusted adult to read it first and tell you what they think. But that's just me. Anyway, on to the point. This book is enthralling. I bought it yesterday and after nine hours, I had finished it. It was amazing. I didn't want to put it down. It keeps you entertained. It seems like there is a twist in every chapter. As soon as you think you know what's going on, you find out that you were dead wrong. I found myself shocked, horrified, heartbroken, amused, thrilled, and more throughout the book, until the very end. It felt like a roller coaster. I'm still trying to figure out what happened and how I feel about it. I finished it last night and I'm still thinking about it today, if that tells you anything. Everyone should read this book. It's amazing.
This one was a definite page turner! I couldn't read this fast enough to see how it was going to end! There are so many characters and their lives intertwine to create this soap opera type story! Ms. Davis has given us characters and a storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat...will the good in people prevail over the bad? Will they help each other out of tough situations? Will they stand up to the evil that is Salazar? We are thrown into a world of drug cartels, lies, deceit, greed, revenge and murder. During the story we learn the truth to the lies and deceit. We are also given a love story. Don't we all love a good love story? This gave the story a great balance. The flow of this story was fantastic...there was never a dull moment. All of the characters were given their chance to tell a side of the story. I didn't feel as if any character was underdeveloped...everything was spot on. I gave The Power to See a 5/5 stars for giving us an ending that I didn't see coming!!! (I can usually predict what will happen...this I did not!) The story could totally become a movie or mini series! If you are looking for something different to read then this is the one for you!
I was given this book for an honest review. I felt like there was so much in this book, almost too much. There were so many characters that I felt confused at first, but eventually I figured out who everyone was. There were some very dominating men in this book and a few brutal details that I didn’t really care for, although that was part of what the book centered around. I felt sorry for the main female character, and hoped the whole time she would find a way out of her situation. This family had many and I mean many secrets that come out, as all secrets do eventually. I didn’t really like the end, although it left it open for more books. I am one who likes an HEA, and you don’t get anything close to that in this book. I finished feeling somewhat confused and let down for the male love interest, wanting him to be happy since he deserved it after all he had gone through. I did like the ending for the other male lead as he finds himself through all the mess he is tossed into. I would recommend this book for those who like a second chance at life story, but not necessarily hearts and flowers always.
