As a degreed Emergency Manager, and a Former Disaster Services employee of the American Red Cross, I believe this book offers something for anyone looking to improve their level of preparedness in terms of food storage, management, and preparation. Tess starts off with strategies for both getting the most for your money when shopping, showing how with a little attention to detail one can save over $500 a year on items they regularly purchase. She offers practical (read affordable) advice to building your food stores, best practices for ensuring the foods you buy will last on your shelf, and then moves to great recipes for incorporating foods that many shy away from into meals that are easy to make and tasty to eat. The mantra, "Store what you eat, eat what you store" is one we should all take to heart, and Tess embraces this throughout her book, helping novice and "expert" alike to move up the preparedness ladder.  When you think of "preparedness cooking", do you think of Applesauce Muffins, French Toast, Peach Cobbler, Quinoa Tabouli, or Fish Tacos? Well, Tess does. Even the off-grid cooker can make these recipes for themselves and their family - tasty, healthy, and ready to make from the stores in your pantry. While others are eating freeze dried foods, or waiting on help from an outside source, you and your loved ones can be eating healthy, delicious meals in the days and even weeks following a disaster. The Prepper's Cookbook is a tool, reference source, and recipe list no person who wants to be prepared for disaster - large or small - should be without.
