Move over Commander, 505 is Taking No Prisoners. --Secret Agent 505, aka The Presidents General is on a Top Secret Mission and his objective is to replace the Iranian Prime Minister. Unlike covert operatives from different agencies, 505 answers to no one but the President of the United States, there is no red tape to cut, no authorizations to obtain, and approval for action is not needed. Second in Power, only behind the Commander In Chief, the Presidents General receives his mission and develops his plan to complete the task. -- Kurtz, Secret Agent 505, is set apart from your normal spook because a) Only the American President knows of his duties, and b) he has four hand-picked Secret Military Operatives whose only job is to keep the General safe, out of harms way, and again, they answer to none other than 505. Each, individually, is dedicated, loyal, and lethal. The entire unit is composed of combat veterans. Moreover each earned medals for valor above and beyond, and any of them is ready and willing to lay down his life for their leader. Every one of these operatives is capable of being a Super Agent in their own right, because of their expertise, dedication, and courage. -- The setting is in the Middle East, Persia (Iran), to be exact. A volatile, no-mans land, under the control of a Prime Minister that wants no dealings with the Western World, and using diplomacy, The Presidents General works to persuade the leader to come to reason, and enter a dialogue; keep in mind that 505 is the personal representative of the American President, with unlimited resources. -- Given sizeable funding for the operation, Kurtz utilizes his resources with responsibility and care to work his mission. Shortly after entry into Iran, The Presidents General is able to enter into alliances which, given the current Iranian situation, provides assistance to his endeavor. -- All work and no play is not what this story is about; several well placed amorous encounters play a role with the secret agent, and his personnel also have, if limited, time for play. Although brief, the play time recharges the men, and allows for the entire concentration on the job at hand. -- The particulars and conflicts are described thoroughly in this thrilling novel; indeed the details place the reader in the action, as if there, giving credence and excitement to the adventure. Manny Segarra has taken a very live topic and a politically hot area and developed an excellent portrait, first class, as masters of fiction do. -- I highly recommend this as your must read of the year, realistic, exciting, and original.
