HENRY MOORHOUSE (1840-1880) was born in Manchester, England. His young appearance earned him the title of the "boy preacher." He was an itinerant lay preacher who drew large crowds with great effect. One of his favorite texts was John 3:16.
WILLIAM HAY MACDOWELL HUNTER AITKEN (1841-1927) was born in Liverpool, England. He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford and went on to be Vicar of Christ's Church, Liverpool. D. L. Moody convinced this popular preacher to give up his church and become an evangelist.
