A brand new, irresistible series about finding love in unexpected places by New York Times bestselling romance author Jean Oram. Come fall in love...
The prequel that started it all for lovers Devon and Olivia…
When worlds collide.
Devon Mattson has never been as captivated as he is by Olivia. She’s smart, witty and rich. But above all is the fact that even though they come from different worlds she understands him, his small town charm and his need for speed.
He knows that to be together they’ll both have to give up a lot, but he’s promised to always be there for her. Now, in college, and afterward too. Forever.
Olivia Carrington has never felt more alive than when she’s with Devon. She no longer feels the suffocating weight of expectations—just the freedom and support to follow her secret dreams and to become the person she’s always been afraid to be.
But when reality comes knocking their dream world begins to collapse. Will these two young lovers find their way back to each other or will their hearts become shattered beyond repair?
This prequel novella is a bonus companion story for their novel The Surprise Wedding. It can be read before or after their novel.

Jean Oram grew up in a small town in Alberta, Canada and her experiences have inspired her Blueberry Springs series. But while Jean grew up in an old schoolhouse tending to the family's honeybee operation, her characters haven't! Well, not yet, anyway.
Jean loves to ski (downhill and cross-country), hike, camp, read, write, watch romantic comedies, and say random things like "Buckle your seatbelts, kids, Mama's driving!" in order to make her kids crack up.
She lives in Canada with her husband, two kids, and very large dog.

ARC for honest review with no compensation The Promise is a prequel to the Surprise Wedding and has a cliff hanger...but what a way to start a new series and keep you wanting more! !
"The Promise" (Veils and Vows #0) by Jean Oram is a great read. I enjoyed the beginning of Devon and Olivia's story. I can't wait to see what happens next. I think this is an excellent start to the Blueberry Springs spinoff series Veils and Vows. Highly recommend to all fans of romance and series.
I have to tell you right up front that I’m so disappointed by the ending. I was trying to find time every minute to read the book because it had me hooked. Then I got to the end and I was screaming NO I want more, don’t stop here. Oh my gosh I can’t wait to the next book. This is such a sweet, clean, romantic book that really put me in a good mood. I loved all the characters and how developed they were, This is a good read for those who still believe love is out there.
Olivia was more concerned with keeping her snobby parents happy then my book boyfriend Devon. Not being disowned by them and losing her trust fund annoyed me. She will never be free of her parents control.
