It's Mother's Day, my family has given me a free day to do as I please! It has pleased me to stay in my pj's, to have cake for breakfast, eat fast food for dinner, have a glass of wine, a bubble bath and READ THIS BOOK! A lovely story line, characters to love, some twists and turns, perfectly written and leaves you smiling as you read the last page and close the book!

I was caught between rating this book a five-star becasue at times it was that good, and a one-star because it times it was so boring and aimless. Allie Boniface tries to do a good job with the poor little rich girl who attempts to transition into a different lifestyle ... but most of the time she seems to be writing about sokmething she knows nothing about. Has she ever been into a sports bar or a blues bar? I don't think so. The restaurant (Blues and Booze) doesn't seem to have a reality of it's own; her rooming house seems to be a tkypical college-town student housing; the city itself has some reality; but the characters don't seem to have much reality of their own .... and the plot even less because it gets so wordy over things that don't even deserve mention ... it's like she had to make this book 175 pages long, no matter what it cost. Yes, I read the entire book ... I just knew it was going to get better and would have some really good twists ... none of the plot lines were unpredictable ... even the final twist was predictable, and it could have occurred 50 pages earlier without hurting the story line. Allie, please do a rewrite because this book could be so much better with a bit of tightening ... your goal ... 125 pages of good story .... please.

Ashton's family name was well known, her father a politician, her siblings lawyers. She'd just finished law school when her father was involved in a scandal. Then to make matters worse, her long-time boyfriend broke up with her. She had to get away for a while and think about her future. Did she really want to take this path in life, being a lawyer, eventually getting into politics? Had her boyfriend ever really loved her or was it her family connections he sought? When she first arrived in Paradise, NH, Ash wondered if it was far enough away from home, but she decided to stay. Then when she met her other housemate, Eddie, things began to brighten up. What was she thinking? She just needed to keep to herself so no one found out who she really was… The Promise of Paradise is my first Allie Boniface romance, but I'm not stopping there. It was quite entertaining and I wasn't able to put it down. The characters were charming, easily lovable, intelligent, and worldly. The connection between the hero and heroine was immediate and well written. It was so sweet the way Eddie looked out for Ash, making sure she always got home safely, keeping her car in working order, and protecting her in the bar where she worked. Awww…It gives me that warm-and-fuzzy feeling I adore! The Promise of Paradise is well-written and sweetly romantic. The ending was fantastic and makes me want to keep the hero for myself (lol)! I can't wait to read more from this awesome author, Ms. Allie Boniface! 5 Stars!

Two people, from very different family backgrounds, meet and feel immediate sparks. The story is a good read of becoming friends before becoming lovers....happinessis is not always what you think...and it is possible to find a good life by redefining your goals.

I got this book thinking it would be a quick easy read; maybe even a bit of fluff. While it wasn't extrememly deep, the story was much better than what I had expected from reading the synopsis. Eddie was a much more likeable character than the normal 'player', and the build up of their relationship was sweet. Glad I gave it a chance.
