When you talk about some very famous and well-known Christian authors, Charles Spurgeon is one of the first ones that comes to mind. When you talk about some famous preachers, Charles Spurgeon comes to mind. For over a century, Charles Spurgeon’s classic daily devotional has comforted the hearts of God’s people. For each day of the year, Spurgeon reflects on a specific promise of God from Scripture. These promises strengthened his own heart in times of severe depression and suffering. In this revised version, Tim Chester has updated some words to fit today's language. He has shortened sentences and used modern sentence structuring. All in all, Tim Chester has made this revised version easier to read. Although I don't always like it when that happens, as I think the text usually does lose a little feeling. But as someone whose first language isn't English, I really appreciate the updated language that is easier to understand. In any case, the message remains the same. Each day's devotion contains a verse and a one page text, a devotional thought on the verse. Though each day is only one page long, it is packed with thoughts, insights, challenges, and encouragement. I have loved reading through these devotions, as I love Spurgeon in general. I have loved reading through this book. So I would honestly recommend this devotional for everyone, young or old. This would make a great gift, too, I think.
This is a "must have" for anyone who likes Charles H. Spurgeon. This is a book I will read more than once and I will buy a hard copy of this book when it is released.
