Overview

Binge read this compelling young adult paranormal thriller series about the girl with the ghost hand.

Olivia Black has a rare birth defect known as Psyche Sans Soma, or PSS. Instead of a right hand made of flesh and blood, she was born with a hand made of ethereal energy.

How does Olivia handle being the girl with the ghost hand? Well, she's a little bit morbid and a whole lot snarky.

Her mother thinks her obsession with death, black clothing, and the local cemetery is a bid for attention. But when Marcus, the new guy in Olivia's calculus class, stares at her like she's a freak, Olivia doesn't like it. And when her hand goes rogue, doing things she never imagined possible, Olivia finds herself running for her life with Marcus from a group of men bent on taking the power of her hand for their own nefarious purposes.

PSS (a condition manifesting as a ghostly portion the body) is a relatively new phenomenon in the world, the first case showing up around 20 years ago, but that hasn't stopped factions from forming, one bent on exalting those with PSS and the other bent on researching and exploiting the incredible potential this new substance has provided. A group of PSS young adults are fighting back, but with the odds stacked against them, how can they possibly change the world? Buy the series. You'll want to binge read the entire thing, I can guarantee you. The plot starts so simple, and then gets deeper and deeper as you travel down the rabbit hole of story. There are some parts of the story that are hard to take (I'm looking at you, Nose and Yale), but the richness and depth of emotion are hard to match. It took forever to pick this up because I knew I'd want to be glued to it until I got it finished, but it was so worth it. If you love young adult fiction, romance, thrilling plots, action, suspense, and the kinds of twists and turns that keep you up past your bedtime, you'll love these books.

Thank you, Ripley Patton for giving us more than just the usual paranormal fare with the PSS Chronicles. I was intrigued and fascinated throughout the entire story with Olivia’s ghost hand and the whole concept of PSS. The pacing was great, story points happened when they should. There were reveals and twists, and there was tension that held up nicely throughout. Secrets and lies and new information kept me turning pages. The climax for the series was expertly built up throughout the series with the overall plot. Everything I wanted to know and everything I didn’t realize I wanted to know was revealed by the end of the fourth and final book. As a series, Patton does an amazing job at revealing the perfect amount of information on her imaginative PSS concept at the perfect intervals. Everything came together in this final book. I loved the main character, Olivia more with every book in the series. She might freak out, as any normal teen under these circumstances should and would, but she doesn’t let that stop her from trying to find a solution. She’s a girl of action. She’s a real superhero and a model main female character. She’s funny, snarky, and thinks fast on her feet. She never lets the situation get the better of her in the end. She may get bad things thrown at her left and right, but she’s always trying to think of a solution and doesn’t wallow in self-pity. She is the strong underdog you’ll love to root for. I look forward to reading whatever Ripley Patton writes next.

I loved this series so much. From the first book to the last, it kept me in shock and suspense. The creativity and writing were just amazing. Below is an excerpt from my reviews on each book. But bottom line, this is a fantastic read you can't go wrong with. Ghost Hand: I can honestly say, I’ve never read a book like this one. It was unique and entertaining and it grips you from the start and holds you till the end. It was ingenious, well written, fast paced and adventurous. Ghost Hold: I'm in awe right now. Ripley Patton has shocked, wowed and stunned me with this book, especially the ending. The story was intense, powerful, fun, frightening and heartbreaking. I absolutely couldn’t put it down... Ghost Heart: ...this author truly impresses me with how well she can pull me from reality and throw me into the creative, imaginative, thrilling world where unique and soulful characters come to life... Ghost Hope: This book was wonderfully told in multiple POV’s, each from a different perspective but all converging into one huge, epic heartfelt ending that answers all the questions you’ve had since the beginning of the series. Where PSS comes from, how it affects the person who has it, why is happened and where it all leads. I was completely surprised at the answers we get. And I loved that. Everything that I guessed... it was all wrong. This author's imagination and creativity make this story unique and exceptional in every way and add to that, intelligent and bold characters and you’ve got an instant win.

I have read book 1-3 in this series, I haven't read book 4 yet, but hope to do soon. I got free copies of each of the books and voluntarily reviewed them. The PSS Chronicles is an original fast paced story driven book. I really like the premise behind this one, it's very unique and well thought out. The World building is woven throughout the story and with each book the reader learns a bit more about the PSS and this world. I liked the characters, although it takes some time before you really get to know them. These books also have some action and some nice twists/ surprises. I thought book 3 was a bit less good than the first two as a certain plot line bothered me a bit. But I am still looking forward to reading book 4 and seeing how the series ends. I would recommend this series to readers looking for an original story driven Young Adult book.
