Enjoyable. Lot of fun if you don't let yourself be overly distracted or annoyed at some of the more technical concepts and lingo throughout.

I'm a huge fan of Travis S. Taylor's accomplishments, both with life and literature. That said, I am a mean critic. This novel's pace is rippingly fast, forcing us to look past some details I might like to read more about. For all the time our brave protagonists spend aboard an alien spaceship, there is surprisingly little data on the ship's configuration and layout. Some of the settings were articulated in the same "off the cuff" fashion and leave too much for us to imagine. The characters get more attention, as does the broad scope of the storyline. Kudos for continuity with Warp Speed, the prequel to this adventure. As always with Taylor, the science is cutting edge and beyond, grittily real. Taylor is a favorite author of mine for his casuistry, right there in line with John Ringo.

Beginning with a character who is so 'geeky' you'll cringe, this novel accelerates to a 'can't put it down' speed. It is reminiscent of Heinlein and early Hogan. The characters tend to be cliche stereotypes, but the story is GREAT. The action ranges in scale from the Planck length up to interstellar travel. Mind candy at its best.
