Rylie Shepherd returns to her hometown following her mother’s death to face the pain and heartache she left behind four years earlier. The characters are easy to like and the family dynamics are fun to observe. The story grabs you and you want to see how Rylie works through her painful memories. I choose to read Christian books where I am not exposed to inappropriate language and sensually suggestive scenes. This book has both and for that reason I am only able to give this book four stars.
Another great book by an awesome author! Rylie has every reason to hate her past. A final hurt sends her running but her mom's funeral brings her back to the place she despises the most. Colton is coming back home a hero and carrying the love he has always had for Rylie. The quarter represented to her a little girl's hopes of something good, and later a betrayal. To her parents, it meant something different. Only by looking at the childhood she thought she had, can she see things differently. Only by looking through the eyes of others can she finally see what she had as opposed to what she didn't have. Will it be enough to finally bring her peace and allow Colton back into her life? This book takes you along for the ride and helps you see the emotions that come into play as each person reconciles their feelings with their past. Sometimes when you revisit the past, it changes your present.
