I LOVE these books, both the original series and the spin offs by other authors although Kristen Painter's are the best. These are grown up escapist fare and I enjoy every moment lost in the world of Nocturne Falls. I enjoy paranormal fiction, I am not much for romance books but the story lines and mysteries in these books are good enough to satisfy me. I know what type of ending their will be, but I don't know how they'll get there and getting there is all the fun. A town in Georgia, founded by Vampires where paranormals can hide in plain sight and live as normal lives as they can. They aren't blood thirsty paranormals as that wouldn't work, but in a city that celebrates Halloween, my favorite holiday, 365 days a year, they have amazing freedom to be themselves and yet the humans don't catch on. My only sadness is there is no Nocturne Falls. You don't have to read them in order but I prefer that method, the Nocturne Falls universe books you really can read in any order but the originals I prefer in order so you see the characters develop. If you like a bit of mystery, a bit of romance and you like to believe there could be such a tourist town, you'll find these books to be like potato chips, you can't read just one.

Wonderful addition to the Nocturne Falls series. I thought this story has been one of the best additions. The characters are more developed with multiple story lines that all come together in the end. Truly enjoyable. If you have just found this book, it would increase your enjoyment if you read at least all the books by Kristen Painter in the series in order first. Afterwards, you can move onto all the other books in the Nocturne Falls Universe by other talented authors. Nocturne Falls is a town you fall in love with and would love to live in. The characters become friends. I'm grateful Ms. Painter opened up her world for others to play in and to keep the readers happy with plenty of stories about this magical place!

Cute story and I liked the characters, but a little disappointed that some parts were rushed or left unresolved (to tell you what would be huge plot spoilers). Not her best in the series, but not enough to keep me from reading whatever comes out next.

Without giving away too much I have to say that this is a story of trials. Of overcoming fears that have lasted a lifetime. Poignant and exciting. Nocturne Falls is a place I would love to live.

I know I probably say this after every book, but I think Kristen truly did out do herself this time. I was so excited to finally get Lucien’s book. And Imara was just perfect. Lucien is a grim reaper who’s powers don’t always work correctly. This lead to his grandmother’s soul being reaped. Now she is a ghost. So Lucien is now retired and lives a solitary life away from people, except his grandmother’s ghost lives with him. Imara is a genie out of wishes. Unfortunately, her life is in danger and only Lucien can save her. I’ve always loved Lucien’s character because he is very dangerous and so mysterious and broody. Imara has her work cut out for her. In the first chapter he is so woe is me. I was wanting his grandmother to smack him lol. But I can also understand how lonely his life would be and also the guilt he lives with. However, his eyes are opened when Imara and him actually touch and her soul isn’t reaped, not to mention what does happen. I highly recommend this book. You will find out more about why Lucien is the way he is and also how his grandmother was reaped. The books don’t have to be read in order, but doing so makes them feel that much more cozy. Side characters are strongly developed but having read their stories in the past makes them seem like family.
