The Redemption is a rousing pirate adventure filled with sea battles, chases, arrests, and betrayal. Tyndall expertly interweaves history with fiction to create a spellbinding tale any lover of pirate romance will enjoy. Cindy Vallar - Editor Pirates and Privateers

Charlisse Bristol sets off on a voyage in search of a father she never knew, only to become shipwrecked on an island. She longs for a father's love to fill the emptiness in her soul from an abusive childhood, but resigns herself to a lonely death of starvation. Her salvation comes in the form of a band of pirates and their fierce, enigmatic leader, Captain Merrick.

The last thing Merrick expected to find in the middle of the Caribbean was a beautiful maiden. Now he is burdened with the task of not only protecting her from his crew, but from himself. A recent convert to Christianity, Merrick is haunted by a sordid past while he struggles to become a better man and accepts a mission from God to hunt down the most vicious pirates on the Caribbean.

Charlisse can make no sense of Captain Merrick. A pirate who prays and drinks rum? Breaking her vow to never trust any man, she finds herself falling for the pirate/priest, who more than once risks his life to save her. When she confides in him her quest to find her father, Merrick agrees to help. What he doesn't realize is Charlisse's father is the ruthless Edward the Terror, the one man Merrick has vowed to hunt down and kill.

Evil forces are at work against Charlisse and Merrick: enemies, battles, imprisonment, jealousy, and betrayal, all threaten to destroy not only their new found romance but their very lives. It will take a miracle-or several-for either of them to survive.

M. L. Tyndall has written a fascinating story that rivals Pirates of the Caribbean, and Captain Merrick is giving Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) a run for his money, too! I highly recommend this well-written, high-seas novel that dares anyone to label it as merely just another romance. Sherri Myers, Romance Junkies

Packed with pirates, mystery, suspense, love, and loss, The Redemption is an extremely great book, and I recommend it to anyone who has time to read and fall in love with the story. This book has something for everyone. Charlisse and Merrick are such strong yet vulnerable characters and so believable. As Marylu Tyndall's first book, it set the pace for all of her amazing books.

Lady Charlisse Bristol hits the open seas unescorted¿on a quest to find her merchant father. The storms begin with her being shipwrecked and they don¿t ¿let up¿ until the end of the story. She suffers hunger, hardship, abuse, rejection, near-ravishing on numerous occasions, and at times even battles her desire to fight due to her lack of faith. When buccaneer-turned-pirate Captain Edmund Merrick finds the shipwrecked Lady Charlisse nearly starved to death, he feels the need to protect her, but she is a reluctant and uncooperative captive. However, that doesn¿t stop him from opening his heart to her and being willing to risk his life¿if needed¿to save her own, and to help her find her father. The Redemption takes the reader on a journey through the Caribbean¿but not on a cruise ship. The mode of transport is a vile and unsafe pirate ship. The culture, the hardships, the scream of muskets and scent of gunpowder from swivel guns, and the fierce battles on the open seas all combine to give the reader a realistic sense of the culture of the times. In fact, the blood and guts was so well done I would¿ve thought a man had written the story! On the softer side, I felt the salt and sand stiffening Charlisse¿s dress as she stripped it off to aid her own survival. The hunger pangs, the anxiety, and the pain she experienced while nearly going mad on the island seemed real. I got a lump in my throat when the mean pirates fatally hurt her squawking friend. I wanted to wring their necks!!! I identified with her so much that I felt her pain! The disgusting scents in the ship¿s hold, the jail cells, and the Dead Reckoning ¿bar¿ were so vivid I felt like I was there. I had to smile at how many times poor Charlisse suffered at the hands of leering pirates, because even though she didn¿t have faith in God at the time, He still helped her in her time of desperate need, especially when she called on Him to protect her from being ravished. The Redemption is a fabulous love story in a rich setting wrought with the realities of living in the 1600s on the open seas. Life wasn¿t fair, people died or were murdered for no good reason, and people weren¿t valued unless they were white men. There were so many cliff-hangers in this novel I¿m surprised I didn¿t fall off my seat at least once. Just when I thought they were safe and all would be well, more trauma took place in Charlisee¿s life. That woman went through a lot, but she learned a lot through her suffering. I enjoyed the faith piece as well, and the ending was fulfilling. I enjoyed this story so much I plan to read every book in the series. Highly recommended!

The Redemption by: M.L. Tyndall I had an adventure last week a Reading Rainbow sort of adventure into a world of shipwrecks and pirates, maidens and heroes. Sword fights and chivalry wove into a story of faith, letting go and love. The Redemption by M.L. Tyndall was a joy to read. . . . Charlisse Bristol embarks on a journey to find her father in the Caribbean. A shipwreck leaves her stranded and alone on a desert island. She is rescued by an unlikely sort of pirate, Edmund Merrick. He fits every description and tale about pirates she has ever heard, except one. He is a Christian. He serves the God she hates and blames for atrocities done to her in His name. Her determination to locate her father is matched by Merrick¿s to prevent her from meeting the cruelest, most vile pirate ever to cruise the Caribbean. She cannot help but be attracted to her rescuer and to his faith. As small seeds of faith take root in her heart, both of them are challenged beyond their physical, emotional or spiritual abilities to cope. And, it is in completely relinquishing all control to their loving Heavenly Father they find real grace, redemption and lasting love . . . Open this book for entertainment. You will not be disappointed. You will be transported to the world of pirates and lore. But within the pages is a pearl of great price and your heart will forever be affected by the compelling lessons of love, forgiveness, and letting go. You will close the book knowing you are a better person. Chandra Lynn Smith

In 1665 Lady Charlisse Bristol leaves England to flee her odious abusive Uncle who uses God to get away with molestation and other abuses of weaker people, but she is also on a quest to find her father, a sea merchant whom she never met. However, the vessel she sails on from London to Port Royal sinks in the Caribbean during a storm. Charlisse survives barely on a deserted island where Captain Edmund Merrick and his pirate crew find her near death. Edmund is a born again Christian working for King Charles to stop piracy with his prime objective ending the terrorist reign of his former mentor Captain Edward the Terror. However, his saving the life of Charlisse causes him personal problems as he is very attracted to her and for that matter so is his cutthroat crew though his desire is her while his men would take any woman. As he falls in love with a woman who mistrusts any man, especially one who believes in God, Edmund realizes that her father is Edward. --- The first Legacy of the King¿s Pirates tale is a fantastic late seventeenth century pirates of the Caribbean thriller starring two fascinating characters. Whereas Edmund has found God, Charlisse distrusts God with good reason after being abusively raised by a loathsome man of the cloth. The story line is fast-paced so that historical pirate romance readers will fully enjoy this exciting tale but also targets Christian historical fans who will appreciate THE REDEMPTION as the dilemma brings out the best in some and the worst in others. Piracy mania aside, the audience will look forward to M.L. Tyndale's next high seas adventure, THE RELIANCE. ---Harriet Klausner

Redemption: Legacy of the King's Pirates book #1*****by MaryLu Tyndall After years of suffering abuse from her Uncle, Bishop Henry Hemming, Lady Charlisse Bristol bartered for passage on board a ship leaving London heading to Port Royal in the Caribbean in search of Edward T. Bristol, her father she has never seen. Now she is shipwrecked and on an uninhabited island struggling to survive. Weeks pass without a ship in sight until one evening she hears men talking—pirates! Captain Edmund Merrick and his crew are making needed repairs on his ship the Redemption on an uninhabited island—or so he thought. He is surprised to find a beautiful woman on the deserted island. Charlisse is ultimately placed on the Redemption with the leering pirates, and locked in Captain Merrick's cabin for her safety. He sets a course for Port Royal, a two days journey in calm seas but they soon encounter a storm reminding Charlisse of her last storm at sea and it's outcome. The captain is not your typical pirate/captain, he is a new Christian and has been commissioned by King Charles as a privateer to capture enemy pirates and bring them to justice. A pirate that prays?Determined to find her father, Charlisse asks Captain Merrick if he has heard Edward Terrance Bristol; but does not believe him when he says her father is known as the pirate—Edward the Terror. No, her father is not a pirate. How can she find her father and prove Merrick wrong? But what will she do if he is right? There is much to their journey together, not all pleasant. Captain Merrick is captured and put in prison and is to be hanged. Charlisse is kidnapped and Merrick is unable to rescue her. Can she turn to Merrick's God when He left her alone all these years? Does God really love her enough to protect her from these evil pirates? MaryLu's The Redemption has much to offer. A bit of history immersed with swashbuckling pirates, action, suspense, romance, surprising twists and turns, faith and inspiration and so much more. The story captured me from the first page to the last. There are characters to love and characters I did not like at all, all making a fantastic story. ~~I received an e-copy of this book from the author for my review~~

This is a fabulous Christian historical romance. Lady Charlisse Bristol sets off on a voyage to find her father whom she never knew. Instead she finds herself shipwrecked on a deserted island in the Caribbean. After weeks, stranded by herself, she finds that her salvation comes in the form of a band of pirates. Their leader is fiercely handsome, Edmund Merrick. He is busy learning to walk a more godly path while still leading his crew. He now has added the task of shielding Charlisse from his lecherous crew to the task of trying to bring the cruelest pirates to justice. Can the supernatural power of God rescue Charlisee and Edmund from the danger and treachery that await them? This book is filled with incredible swashbuckling adventure. The descriptions that MaryLu Tyndall includes of the pirate battles and life style were great. I loved the character development. The way she built the pasts of the characters up and revealed them slowly throughout the course of the book was great. It held my attention and drew me into the story just as much as the action packed sequences did. I also thoroughly enjoyed the strong belief in God that Edmund displayed. He was truly trying to serve Him even in the midst of wanting to be in control. It was wonderful to watch him grow in trusting God and turning control over to Him. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

The very first book written by MaryLu Tyndall, "The Redemption", has truly been an on edge must know what is going to happen next in this novel.  Just when I think in a few areas that things are about settled, some other suspense action comes up, and has me eagerly reading to see how the events will turn out.  Read about how Lady Charlisse Bristol runs away from where she was brought up, by going on a voyage in search of her father whom she never knew, but heard so many wonderful stories from her mother.  Though through the process she becomes shipwrecked on a desert island.  To make things more interesting find out how a band of pirates and their fiercely handsome leader, Edmund Merrick, rescues Charlisse from near death. Charlisse being terrified of Captain Merrick, she is now baffled to discover this man has a faith in God.  Captain Merrick is determined to become a better man or more of a godly man, but he is battling his old weaknesses of women and drink, which are testing him while he helps Charlisse in her journey to search for her father.  A neat twist with this novel, "The Redemption" you'll read throughout seeing the title used in different ways.  See if Charlisse will come to understand about the deliverance from sin and come to know what is salvation, and how Edmund learns more about giving his life to the One and only Creator.  This swashbuckling romance novel will show ye how Charlisse 'nd Captian Merrick go through their journey, something ye don't want to miss!

This is a well-written tale of adventure on the high seas. Edmund Merrick is a reformed man. He's become a Christian and a privateer. He still struggles with his old fleshly desires, but truly wants to be the man that God created him to be. Will he succeed as a Christian and be able to keep his career as a pirate captain? Charlisse Bristol has escaped her tyrannical uncle's clutches, and is off in search of the father she has never known. She is rescued by Captain Merrick after being stranded on an island. He agrees to take her to Port Royal in search of her father. But when he learns that the man she seeks is none other than Edward the Terror, a ferocious pirate and Merrick's former captain, how will Edmund protect the lady he has grown to love from the pirate he has vowed to bring to justice? M.L. Tyndall has crafted a very difficult to put down book. The chapters are short and easy to read. The chapter titles offer teases as to the contents. The characters and settings are so real they almost pop off the page! The Christian theme is woven creatively throughout the story. I can't wait to read book 2 in the series!

The Redemption is MaryLu Tyndall's first book. It is the first book in the series Legacy of the King's Pirates series. The Redemption is a romance between the charming hero, Captain Merrick, and the strong-willed Charlisse, who is escaping her brutal uncle and searching for her father. As the story progresses, both Charlisse and Merrick evolve into very likable characters who anyone can relate to. Their relationship is sweet and realistic. This book combines many favorable elements: mystery, romance, danger, sea voyages, evil characters, godly characters, and also faith that is tried but overcomes. This is a book that can't be put down, a page-turner. I loved it! I've read it five times, that is how good this book is.

Join Charlisse and Merrick in their adventure. It's full of love, hate, grace, forgiveness, as well as your familiar pirate activity. Once you open it up, you will have a hard time putting it down. It is a fast read. The adventure and emotion keeps you going.

I absolutely LOVED this book! It was a swashbuckling tale filled with history and romance! All the characters were realistic and strongly built with human-like faults and quirks. Charlisse, a young lady venturing to find her father all on her own, is an admirable heroine and I admired Merrick, a Christian pirate, very much! I definitely stayed up late at night reading as fast as I could and wondering what would happen to Charlisse and Merrick. All in all, this was a great read and I definitely would recommend it to my friends.

AMAZING!! I loved it. Very captivating! This was the first book by MaryLu that I read, and it definitely wasn't the last. She has a way of wording it that just makes you want to keep reading. It showed clearly that Christians aren't perfect, and neither is their life. Bad things happen, and you just ogt to trust in God to make it through. Very well done.

The first book in MaryLu's first series, this is an exciting and romantic read that will give you a new view on pirates and the thrills of the sea! I highly recommend The Redemption and the entire Legacy of the King's Pirates trilogy!

What! These can't be out of print! This is the very first book out of Tyndall's that I have read. After I read this one, I made it my personal mission to buy the rest she had out. Charlisse Bristol is a determined young woman who sets out to find her father. She has it thought out that he will greet her with open arms. What she didn't expect was to be shipwrecked on a desert island, or to run into pirates. Captain Edmund Merrick is a new Christian and former pirate. After becoming a believer in God, he gave up his pirating and signed a contract with England's king to catch enemies. He has enough of a struggle trying to keep his crew in line. When he runs into the beautiful Charlisse his struggles get even worse. He not only has to protect her from his unruly crew, but also from himself. Will he have enough trust in God to fight his old desires? This is a captivating story that will make you want the book to never end. Plenty of adventure and romance! This is also a special book because it has an awesome plot in the area of Christianity.

Okay, I¿ll admit it. I wasn¿t too enthusiastic about reading a story about pirates. (Har, not me cup of tea, if ye know what I mean, mates.) But M.L. Tyndall convinced me otherwise before I¿d made it through the first heart-pounding chapter of her excellent novel. Lady Charlisse Bristol¿s adventures quickly became my own¿as unlikely as that may be!¿and I was riveted right up to the last page. Tyndall skillfully uses her words and her expert research to weave a tale of adventure and romance, danger and¿well, redemption. I, for one, can¿t wait to sail the Caribbean once again and will be waiting in line for the second book in the King¿s Pirates series.

I just HAD to keep turning the pages of this pirate saga to see how Charlisse would survive the dangers she faced in her quest to find her father -- and to see how/if she and Capt. Merrick would make it! A great read!

A young woman on her way to Jamaica to find her father is marooned on a deserted island when her ship sinks. She manages to survive until a ship happens by--but is dismayed to learn it is a pirate ship. The captain is a man recently converted to following the Lord, however, so things may not be as desperate for her as they seem.I enjoyed this tale of adventure and pirates, if unrealistic at times it made for a good yarn. There is a strong romantic element of course. The heroine stood her own and despite making some foolish choices was easy to like. This made for a good escape read.

I thoroughly enjoyed 'The Redemption'! The story centers around Lady Charlisse Bristol who is fleeing a cruel uncle. She boards a ship and sets out to find her father. A storm hits and sinks the ship but she somehow manages to drift to a deserted island. There she is slowly withering away. Then after weeks of combating the elements a band of pirates show up. The Captain, Emund Merrick is very handsome and seems to be a gentleman, although he does have a certain gleam in his eye. He is a reformed pirate who knows the Lord but still struggles with the flesh. He cares for her and takes her aboard to sail with them. He tells her he will help her to find her father. That is until he finds out that her father is Edward the Terror, the cruelest pirate on the Caribbean. He is very torn as he has feelings for Charlisse but also wants to bring her father to justice for the cruel things he has done. Can Charlisse learn to trust Captain Merrick? What will happen when they find her father? What an exciting story. You fall in love with Edmund Merrick and admire Charlisse's spirit. The secondary characters are also very lovable. Except First Mate Kent, whom you love to hate. This story has it all, Romance, adventure, suspense and faith. You won't be disappointed. I am looking forward to the next book 'The Reliance' due out around Jan. Then the last book 'The Restitution'.

MaryLu Tyndall totally captured my attention with this book, “The Redemption”, the story of a pirate Captain with a new-found faith in God. The once ruthless Edmund Merrick has vowed to rid the seas of the most vicious of pirates that would pillage, plunder, and ravage the very seas which he sails, and bring them to justice. Merrick has his sights set on one man in particular…the fearsome Edward the Terror. But while his ship is grounded on a deserted island for maintenance, Merrick stumbles upon a beautiful woman, half starved, the lone survivor of a sunken ship. He rescues the Lady Charlisse Bristol from her lonely plight on the island, only to have to protect her from his crew. Not to mention he finds himself falling in love with her. What he doesn’t know is that there is a connection between the lovely Charlisse and the man whom he hunts and has sworn to capture. “The Redemption” is a swash-buckling masterpiece filled with adventure, romance, and the wonderful message of God’s love and how it heals all wounds.

It is time to set sail on the high seas with a cast of characters that will steal your heart and leave you wanting more.  Charlisse Bristol is embarking on her first adventure on the high seas. Always under the watchful eye of her evil uncle, Charlisse has finally escaped him and is sailing off in search of her long-lost father. Enter Captain Edmund Merrick, who has landed on the same island with his crew to rest and repair his own ship. After meeting, Charlisse enlists Edmund’s help in finding her father.
