We're all in the same boat.
Thought leader and US Navy veteran R.T. Stokes lives by these words. On his first trip home on leave, his car was blindsided by a suspect fleeing the police. This accident nearly ended his life and resulted in the loss of his memory. Determined to reassemble the pieces of his past, Stokes returned to the Navy, where he searched the depths of his existence and discovered greater meaning in the unlikeliest of places—on a submarine at the bottom of the ocean.
The Relentless Rise explores the belief that we all have an unfathomable beauty residing in each of us like a treasure hidden in the deep, dark ocean. Staying afloat when your life sinks beneath the waves requires more than just living with a positive attitude—it takes teamwork, tenacity, and transformation. Stokes challenges us to look beneath the surface of ourselves to understand who we really are and capture the buoyant positive space within us.
By sharing strategies and key principles gleaned from his unique experience as a submariner, Stokes reveals how to
•Rise in the most difficult of times.
•Craft a sense of calm even when under pressure.
•Be ready for the unexpected—but inevitable—life challenges we all face.
•Build positive emotional resiliency.
•Establish a lasting and sustainable positive state of being.
•Ignite a passionate pursuit of purpose, develop a vision, and take a mission-based approach to a more fulfilling life.

About the Author
R.T. Stokes is an author, teacher, thought leader, and Certified High-Performance Coach with a focus to help people search the depths of their own lives to discover significance hidden beneath the surface and to rise to greater fulfillment in each day. A college dropout struggling to make sense of his life, Stokes found the answer to his problems in the unlikeliest of places—in the heart of the ocean, on board a nuclear submarine. Not only did the experience in the Navy change his life, it also provided him with the opportunity to make sense of his purpose, set a vision for his life’s focus, and adopt a mission-bound mentality to pursue the meaning of his life. After departing from submarine sea duty, he continued his Navy career as an instructor at the Trident Training Facility. He first completed the Navy Master Training Specialist certification focused on delivering high-quality instructional standards within classrooms and then advanced to lead the program administration by certifying other instructors throughout the facility. He received awards as a top instructor for two consecutive years. With a desire to graduate before leaving the service, he worked two part-time jobs while going back to college and graduated with academic honors in two degrees including a BA in Industrial, Technology and Trade Education and an M.Ed in Instructional Technology from Valdosta State University. He was honorably discharged in 2004 after serving eight years in the US Navy submarine fleet, during which time he received five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. Following his Navy career, Stokes spent three years in small business and ten years in a large global corporation. In the corporate environment, he worked in various leadership roles, including Human Resources, Employee Engagement, Learning, and Process Improvement. In his final role, as the Inspired Learning Innovation Leader, he helped design and deploy online courses, simulations, and mobile apps to support employee instructional immersion and accelerate innovation. During this time, he realized that many people all over the world were experiencing pressures on the surface all over the world similar to what he faced at sea. With this realization, Stokes left his job in the corporate environment to dedicate himself full-time to reaching more people and making a difference. Today, R.T. Stokes provides coaching and consulting, and is a powerful keynote speaker working with individuals, organizations, and businesses to deliver a positive impact wherever possible.
