Ellen White stated: "The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people through Elders Waggoner and Jones. This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour,... It is the third angel's message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measure" (1888 Materials, pp. 1336-1337). Sadly, however, Ellen White also stated: "An unwillingness to yield up preconceived opinions, and to accept this truth, lay at the foundation of a large share of the opposition manifested at Minneapolis against the Lord's message through Brethren Waggoner and Jones. By exciting that opposition, Satan succeeded in shutting away from our people.... The light that is to lighten the whole earth with its glory was resisted, and by the action of our own brethren has been in a great degree kept away from the world" (ibid. p. 1575). This third edition is basically the same as the 2nd edition except for additional corrections.

Ron Duffield book is a excellent book on the "Third Angel's Message" or also known as the "1888 Message". To most non Seventh-day Adventist Christians is book will be a BIG BORING BOOK to them! Ron reviews the early Millerites/Advent movement from 1844 to 1891. And how God was preparing a group of people to recognize and accept the Latter Rain Message the started in 1888. But sad to say that our main church leaders of the SDA General Conference in Battle Creek, MI rejected and fought brothers A.T. Jones and E.J. Waggoner who Ellen White said that they both were messengers from God to bring the "Third Angel's Message" to the people in the world. If you are a Seventh-day Adventist, I highly suggest and recommend that you should read this book to truly understand that the Latter Rain hasn't fallen yet. We are all waiting for Ron's second edition or volume book on The Return of the Latter Rain taking the reader from 1892 to Present.
