About the Author

A researcher, dietitian, and diabetes specialist turned author, A. S. Wood lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with her husband, two sons, and a goofy cat. She won honorable mention in the 77th Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition in the mainstream/literary short story category for "That Tamed Viking." A poem, "Urban PMS Rendition," and a short story, "Consent in October," appeared in Underground Voices and Down in the Dirt online literary magazines, respectively. In 2017, she won third place from Oklahoma Writers' Federation Inc. in the historical novel category for Swaying with the Wind. She has also developed the contents of a website, diabetesbitsandpieces(dot)info. In her spare time, she likes to read, cook, and walk while listening to audio books.

A. S. was bullied relentlessly in middle and high school. Those were hard years, but she managed to survive. When her oldest son started middle school, she heard stories about bullying. That motivated her to write a novel dealing with bullying. Research followed, and she recognized the complexities and intricacies of bullying. Her experience with bullying and her research were instrumental in writing the novel.
