Overview

Have you ever heard the saying, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me?" I do not agree! Unspoken words can cause as much damage as a stick or a stone. Quilt, sham, and fear are some of the main culprits that rob us from embracing our personal truth. We tend to forget that we all have a past. Some may be a little more spotted than others but we all have one. 

An assignment given by my creative writing instructor so I thought, ended up being intensive therapy for one of the most difficult times in my life. Seeing the realness that flowed from the G-2 blue gel pen guided me with the softest of care down an unexplored path of wide open feelings and emotions. Writing this short story gave my words the freedom to paint what my soul was experiencing. 

"The Richness of My Story Vol. I (Sunday Mourning)" is the first intimate look into the peripety (sudden turn of events or an unexpected reversal) set in motion to save me from certain destruction. After reading the testimony of this little sweet down home not so green country girl, my prayer is that you will find the courage to unlock the treasure within yourself. Take solace in knowing that someone will be made free by your testimonial gift.

Now, I can enjoy the blessings of being a wife, a mother of three healthy and happy children, a daughter of a woman who has beaten cancer, minister, chef, director of dining services, a business owner, one bad lady boss, and a butterfly that has gone through metamorphosis.
