The difficult second album didn't exist for Nik Kershaw. The Riddle is one of THE best synth-pop albums produced. Musically the sound is flawless particuarly on the haunting Save The Whale.Kershaw is so understated as a songwriter. Hardly any of his comtemporaries could ever come up with songs about Don Quixote and Los Angeles and get away with it. His lyrics are also witty, the single Wide Boy about the nobody becoming an overnight success an example. While some of the tracks are too short, there isn't a bad one among them. Nik Kershaw deserves some true recognition for his wonderful way with a tune it's too far overdue.
