The Road in Between by Nicole Simone

Laurence was it - the end of the line - my prince in a sea of frogs. When he proposed, I slipped the dazzling diamond on my ring finger without hesitation. Little did I know our vows, in sickness and in health, would be tested before our marriage had even begun, shattering the future we painted so brightly.

A year later, single and forging a new life in San Francisco, the past was unshakable. As was the love I had for the man who captured my heart at first glance.

An unattainable fantasy, Laurence haunted my dreams and taunted me with the reality of what could have been. If I wasn’t damaged goods, if I was able to have kids, if if if….one thousand and one ifs.

What is there to say? Mia was my everything and when she left, I was destroyed. Work became my focus, my reason for getting out of bed each morning and my drive to continue. Slowly, as the days blurred together the pain she caused dulled to a low ache. One phone call though changed everything and the past collided with the present.

As the true reason behind our breakup comes to light, will I be able to convince Mia that I don’t need a hallmark card?
I simply need her.

An ARC was provided by the author for an honest review. The Road in Between is an amazing second chance love story that grabs you from the very beginning and doesn't let you go until you've read the final page. The author tells a story of love and pain, fate and circumstances, and forgiveness and hope.

Just finished, The Road in Between. Wow, what a great read! The story of Mia and Laurence was so raw with emotions flowing off the page. This novel touched my heart personally as I've been a foster parent and tried to go through the adoption of a foster child which did not work out. I felt hopeful for Travis as I read. I could feel the love from Mia for him. Great read! 5 stars!

The story was fantastic! The way it all unfolded was perfect. I love being introduced to a "new to me" author and falling in love with their writing, which is exactly what has happened with author, Nicole Simone. I was so proud of Mia. The way she picked up and moved on, all for Laurence, the love of her life. The way she went about it, not giving him the opportunity to make his own choice, was wrong but good intentions and all that. The story might have been about Mia and Laurence but Travis was the backbone of it all. This is a sweet "second chance" romance with a great story line. The progress was smooth with an ending that was an unexpected surprise. I loved it! Received a copy via RockStarLit in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.
