The Rock Island Line: Conversations over Chicken and Dumplings based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
Not since The Street by Ann Petry and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, have I enjoyed such a read. Michelle Dobbs in The Rock Island Line Conversations over Chicken and Dumplings, transports the reader smack dab in the middle of this African American family that settled in small town Middle America (Rock Island, Illinois) and how they arrived, survived, and thrived over a span of five generations along The Rock Island Line railroad. You are in the middle and you like it and sometimes you linger to savor the experience. An excellent story that is well written; it is worth the read and more.
