The Scars of Us (The Scars of Us #1) 5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, twists & turns, and heartbreak. This is Kaiya and Ryker’s story. Kaiya has a hard time trusting anyone. But when she meets Ryker she is drawn to him. These two are both a little broken in their own way. They each cope with the past in a different way. Kaiya wants self-defense lessons and Ryker is the teacher. Can these two work together to overcome the past hurts they have been dealt? Or will those past hurts come back to haunt them both? Is dealing with the past healing for soul destroying? Can these two really heal? Or is the past just too much to deal with? I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book. Mending Scars (The Scars of Us #2) 5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, twists & turns, kidnapping, betrayal, and heartbreak. If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first The Scars of Us (The Scars of Us #1) This is more of Kaiya and Ryker’s story. The more time they are together the better it is. But is it too good. Are they missing signs they should be looking for? Can they really trust each other? The relationship will be tested. Someone does not want them together and will try everything to keep them apart. Will they figure out what is going on before it is all over? Or will this be the beginning of the end? Can they come back from the pain one is about to inflict on the other? Can these two work everything out and figure out who the enemy is? Or is it too late for that? I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book.
