Most Helpful Customer Reviews
In The Scientists, the first in the all-new Parallel Ops series of adventure thrillers, author R.J. Archer re-activates one of the most unlikely characters from his previous series to take the lead five years later and head up a super-secret research group answering only to the President. Dr. Jim Barnes, a low-key former Professor of Anthropology at the University of Washington, never thought of himself as a leader but sometimes life throws you a curveball. An academic and skeptic turned radical theorist, he suddenly finds himself a sought-after lecturer and expert on Earth's ancient civilizations and how they came to possess their advanced knowledge of astronomy and mathematics. Following a conference speaking engagement in Munich, he is forcefully recruited by his government to lead a quest to communicate with an alien race while simultaneously protecting it from International terrorists. If you've read Mr. Archer's first Sci-Fi adventure series named Seeds Of Civilization, you'll want to read his first novel in the follow-up Parallel Ops series. Great for those who enjoy a hint of sci-fi in a contemporary setting.
The Scientists is set 5 years after the events that occurred in TRIANGLE. Dr Jim Barnes on a trip to a conference in Germany has a mysterious meeting with a man wanting to share information about aliens, and a dark group out to stop them. And from there a whirlwind of action and adventure begins. For anyone that read the SEEDS OF CIVILIZATION series this book brings a new adventure to the remaining members of the NWIDI team. This first installment of the parallel ops series is one of 3 story lines that occur simultaneously. Each book will reveal more of the mystery leading up to the final book. This book was a great read. I hated to finish it, because it left me wanting more. I ended up re reading the previous books after finishing. With a cast of compelling characters and an alien mystery to solve, this book is a must for all. and i would also highly recommend the seeds of civilization series as well, find out how it all started!!
