Joseph Ingram made the mistake of stealing from me-four million dollars. He took my intelligence without paying for it. And thought he could get away with it.

Think again.

Now I'll take something from him-something irreplaceable.

His sister.

But even when Joseph doubles the amount of money he owes me, I don't give her up.

Nope. I have an image to maintain.

So I keep her.

And I'm not giving her up.

SEMI SPOILER BELOW****** First off the main character justifies her captor/love interest's physical abuse. Then tells herself he's not so bad because he stopped before he raped her because she asked him not to-even though he had already penetrated after she said no. Say what?!!! This book is bad on so many levels. The author teases that the alpha male lead in this story had a bad childhood as if that is a justification for his super douchey and overtly sexually/mentally abusive behavior. The female lead comes across as a two dimensional air headed twit suffering from some major stockholm syndrome. There are many better written stories with sexier mysterious alpha males than this crap sandwich. Save your money and your time and avoid this drivel.

He is powerful as well as a brilliant strategist. If people feared him before, they will now bow to him fearful of his ire. His business is manufacturing the best Scotch in the world but that is only his way to "launder" his money and make it legal. Crewe is unbendable. When he decides to punish Joseph for messing with him, he picked the one thing in the world for which Joseph would give his life ~ his sister. In the vein of Buttons and Lace, we once again are looking at the men that rule in the darkness. They are all friends and enemies playing out their stories. In this case, we meet Crewe and London who are the most opposite characters I have encountered. She is studying medicine so she can heal. He is the underworld King who does not even bat an eye when ending a life. Just like with the series Buttons, I am deeply invested in this new series. These characters, no matter how bad they are on the surface, have powerful redeeming qualities. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment The Scotch Queen. I cannot wait to read it! Definitely for adults over the age of 18! I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thank you to the author for sharing a copy with me.

Like Buttons & Lace with a lot going on in the first book. A must read to add to our collection. The only con was that i had read almost the whole book at the end of Buttons and Shame. Just give us like the first 2 or 3 chapters. They go by so fast!!!????

Penelope Sky does it again. Don't miss this author folks. The story pulls you in and you can't put the book down. She always has strong characters that you want to learn and figure out. Can't wait for the next installment.

Penelope Sky out did herself with one. Her talented writing leaves you feeling like you're part of the story. Crewe's dark side and love for power makes you hate and love him all at once. London's strength makes you love her. It's a most read. I can't wait to reas The Scotch Queen.

I really enjoyed the scotch king! I loved getting to finally read the type of people they are and how they interacted with each other was intriguing to read along. I found this book at the beginning intense and it had me on the edge of my seat but as the story kept unraveling little by little and I started to witness who crewe was I started falling in love with him because no matter how harsh he treats London you can actually see that he has soft spots for certain things and mostly her. London is such a strong women who even though her freedom was taken away because of her brothers mistake, she is trying hard to unravel the real crewe and at the same time wanting to escape back to her normal life but she is starting to feel something for crewe and that has me on pins and needles with finding out more in the second book which I can't wait to read! Amazing job Penelope Sky!
