Overview

The Scotch Royals by Penelope Sky

London is a lot more useful than I anticipated. She gets me what I need like a pro.

With her by my side, I feel like I can do anything.

My need for revenge is dimmed. My anger is contained.

But her brother is still a problem. She wants me to let him go.

I'm not sure if I can.

Penelope is my newest favorite author. I love all of her books. I would have liked to see this book not quite so rushed. Chapter 18 hits and you are like.....gee this has to go on to another book. But then she so quickly wrapped it all up that you feel almost short changed. I'll continue reading her works but this book was more rushed than other works.

I have not finished reading this book yet, but throughout the series it is stated time and again (mostly by Ariel) that Crewe can never marry London because she does not have the proper pedigree to wed a Duke. But Crewe tells London he can marry anyone he chooses and still retain his title. So what is all the angst about? If Ariel is not interested in Crewe romantically, why would she care who he selects as a wife? The main source of conflict has just been negated. You are basically saying that London is not an appropriate choice because of socio-economic differences? Cultural differences? Just because Ariel doesn't like her? To me, the whole plot has just imploded. The HEA will seem a bit lackluster after the main obstacle for the characters to overcome has been nullified. I am disappointed I have spent time and money on 3 different books to get to an ending that is now kind of meaningless

This is the last book in this series, as much as I would love some more. I could not put this book down, you get pulled into the story. There was an emotional roller coaster in this one. I found myself wanting to shout at the characters. Don't miss this series or this author.
