I loved this story line! Rich characters, great visuals without spending too much time detailing physical surroundings, suspense, action and a happy ending. As an avid fiction/fantasy reader and a lesbian who wants more structure to a plot than just soft core porn in the form of a 50 page short story, this story drew me in! The author did an amazing job restructuring a fairy tale we all grew up with into a riveting story about a woman losing everything, finding herself, accepting her sexuality and overcoming harsh trials and conditions through her own means rather than relying on a prince or man to solve her problems. The language was a little flowery and proper at times, but I imagine the author was trying to relay the language of the time. I also loved all the little hint drops that could lead to further plot growth for other characters in the story. I can't wait to read more from the series!
