Overview

The Secret Heir by Siobhan Davis

Is it her destiny to save them ... or destroy them?

Now that Tori finally understands who she is and what's expected of her, she's in full-on freak-out mode. How will she save the galaxy from General Arantu's clutches when she can't even control her powers?

Add that to the lack of retaliation by enemy alien forces, and everyone is on edge. Especially when they uncover evidence of a strange alien symbol with possible links to humans, and the mystery deepens.

But that's not the only thing keeping Tori awake at night.

Confused over the horrific vision she experienced the night of the Herassan attack, Tori is terrified of revealing details of her protectors' supposed fate, so she says nothing. Keeping stuff hidden never ends well, and as evil forces conspire against Tori and her four protectors, secrets and lies threaten to destroy everything they hope to achieve.

While Tori grows closer to Coop, Maddox, and Beck, Dane remains distant, creating more tension and jeopardizing their bond.

Then an unexpected newcomer arrives, casting suspicion over everything they believe they know.

When Tori finally figures out what's going on, will she have time to warn the guys? Or is their fate already sealed?

The second book in the captivating Alinthia series is intended for readers aged seventeen and older. This is upper YA/NA crossover reverse harem paranormal romance which gets steamier as the series develops. This book ends with a cliffhanger and cannot be read as a standalone. 92,000-word full-length novel.

She is a teen, one awakened to her destiny and the truths of who she is and what the galaxy expects of her. Not only is Tori in unchartered territory, she has found four handsome young men who are each a part of her very soul, each owning a piece of her heart, each very different, each aliens raised to belong to her, with her. Now Tori must deal with the visions she has, are they an inescapable future? Will she doom her protectors and all who are dear to her? When will she come into her full powers? Time is running out to stop evil from overpowering all who live and Tori could be the last hope or the greatest nightmare. Her secrets are jeopardizing the bond between her protectors and herself. When trust is of the essence, it could be pushed to the breaking point…especially when a new entity is added to the mix. Siobhan Davis’ THE SECRET HEIR hits the ground hard, and races off over jarring, hotbeds of emotional and physical coal. She has developed completely unique relationships between Tori, Maddox, Coop, Beck and Dane and each has an electric feel, like we are just one step from watching each progress, but just not sure the direction each will take. Romantic tension, physical attraction and the pressures of the unknown make the atmosphere thick enough to cut with a knife and Ms. Davis deftly leads us through like the word master she is. Prepare to escape into a world fraught with mystery and tension, confusing emotions and mistrust. And that big twist we always come to expect from the queen of angst? It. Is. Huge! I kept hoping for just one more page or chapter or the next addition to this series to pop up! Sigh… I’m definitely in need of more! I received a complimentary copy from Siobhan Davis!

I couldn't devour this book fast enough! I initially set out to start this when I had some downtime at work and then finish it at home later, but I ended up reading the whole thing in a few hours because I couldn't put it down. I've never read anything quite like this before, and wasn't sure if I would like this reverse harem genre, but I'm definitely hooked now! The Secret Heir sort of reminded me of some of my favorite fanfics, but with some aliens and original characters. Can't wait to find out what happens next! I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.

(Mild spoilers) Well what a little twist and turn of events that was. I gave this four stars because some of it was a little obvious but it was still a rather entertaining book. Dane and Tori’s relationship is so confusing to me. I know it’s hot and cold but it’s almost like scorching and frostbite like it’s so different it’s almost not believable. However I am so very excited to continue with this series and I am dying to figure out what happens next! Especially after that cliffhanger! I voluntarily reviewed an advance, complimentary copy of this book.

I love how the writing of Ms. Davis can instantly transport me to whatever world she has created and help me lose myself in it. I can forget my "real world" problems and just relax into a tale that's woven so creatively that I can quite honestly forget where I am. I've never really been a big fan of Sci-Fi romance and alien type stories, but ever since the first book I've read by Siobhan Davis, I've been converted. She writes this world so well that it seems possible and even plausible. I love her take on how an alien could be 'hidden' on Earth. I like the ingenious vocabulary she creates to make new alien like names and words and places. Her imagination knows no boundaries and it's extremely entertaining to read. The characters in this story are so loyal and caring and protective of each other. From Tori and the guys, down to Tori's friend, Kylie, and Tori's mother, everyone seems to always be looking out for each other and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of selfishness in the protagonists of the story. The villains, on the other hand, are written so evil, and so disgusting that you just LOVE to hate them. You want to see them annihilated and you want to see our heroes succeed in their missions. I'm especially fond of some of the relationships between Tori and the guys. Tori and Dane have a very tension-filled dynamic and it's both invigorating and agonizing to read through. I love the sensitivity shown in Beck's character and how shy and sweet he is. Overall, I love that each of the male leads has such a distinctive personality and a different relationship with Tori herself. And I like how they work together and get along like brothers. As is the style of our lovely Ms. Davis, there will be a cliffhanger at the end of this book, so you are forewarned! I've come to love these cliffhangers as much as they frustrate me (because I want more now, darn it!) and I'm very eager for book three's release sometime last this summer! If you've enjoyed any of Siobhan Davis' previous work, you'll probably find yourself enjoying this series just as much, but please start with The Lost Savior or you will definitely find yourself lost. As part of the ARC Team, I received an advanced copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed.

This book has basically left me breathless... How do I write my review? I feel like I’m an emotional wreck! Don’t mistaken my anxiousness. I LOVED the book. I actually want to pick it up and read it again. Even with all its emotion and angst. Oh, I thought I was going to turn inside out at times. But I love these characters. That’s the thing!! I ADORE THEM!!! So when they’re dealing with so much, I’m falling apart!! This second installment of the Alinthia series really brought Tori (Alinthia) closer to each one of her protectors individually. It was so nice to see each one of their personalities, and how they opened up to her. But, of course there are complications and they cause a lot of worry and angst for Tori (Alinthia) and the guys, and therefore we as the reader feel it along with them. I’m not going to say too much about what happens, because you need to read it to find out. But I will say that Siobhan Davis can write a book that you become so invested in while reading it, that it gets under your skin. And my skin is jumpy today! I need the next book ASAP!!! No pressure or anything!!

I really enjoyed reading this book. Tori/Alinthia encounters several new obstacles in this book, and even her protectors don't seem to trust her motives at times. After witnessing a mysterious set of frightening visions that she kept to herself, is she really the Chosen One, or a daughter of darkness set on destroying worlds? If you enjoy RH, romance, hot aliens and a story with many twists, you will enjoy reading this book.

Oooh gurl. This series just keeps getting better. I thought I would be able to read just the first few chapters before going to bed last night. Nope. Stayed up reading until I finished it. I was living for the twists and turns in this one. The romance was hot, and the betrayals epic. All that was revealed at the very end? It's about to go down. I can't wait to see what Alinthia does. I need the next book asap! ***I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book.***

Wonderful writing. Interesting storyline. I love Siobhan Davis' take on alien species, and I can't wait to read more! I'm enjoying the reverse harem aspect, and am really looking forward to seeing that storyline progress. I liked getting POV's from the 4 boys, the story is mainly told in Tori's POV, but it's great to get those chapters from the boys. There's some action in this book, and I absolutely love battles, so that was awesome! I'd love more of that! Tori isn't my favorite of Siobhan's heroines, but I still like her. She has lots of room to mature and grow in this series, so I look forward to that. Hopefully as the story progresses she'll become one of my favorites. I hated that she expected honesty, but kept secrets of her own. She also seemed selfish a lot of the time, and would make remarks about how intelligent she was, or how she was always the best at everything, and those comments rubbed me the wrong way. Also at times, she doesn't seem genuine in her feelings for the boys. As I said, I'm enjoying the reverse harem aspect, but I'm not fully feeling the emotional connection between Tori and the guys. The romantic scenes felt misplaced at times, and some of the relationships felt forced. As with Tori growing, I hope the emotional connection between Tori and the guys grows much deeper in the next books. I'm also hoping that the setting will change soon, I'm ready for this story to progress further. I wasn't in love with the twist, and I really hope it isn't going to turn into some redemption type of thing, but it added an interesting element to the story. The book was exciting and entertaining from beginning to end, and I'm really looking forward to reading more! Siobhan Davis is one of my favorite authors, so I'll definitely continue to read more from her! Her Saven series and her True Calling series are my favorites!

I dont know how she always does it, but this author always sucks me into her work. I was hooked from the very first page. I went on vacation and had no time to read while I was away but found myself thinking of the book the whole time and wishing I was reading it. This book follows Tori and 4 gorgeous protectors of hers. I love all the boys, but Beckett has my heart! I love how the story progresses and that you picture it the whole time due to the amazing descriptive skills in the writing. In typical Siobhan fashion, the book ends on a huge cliffhanger and has me in a reading slump wanting the next book. I recommend this book to anyone wanting some romance and nail biting suspense!
