The Secret of My Seduction by Caroline Linden

The final chapter in the Scandals series!

Rule #1: Be discreet

No one suspects plain, sensible Bathsheba Crawford of being the anonymous author of a wickedly scandalous series of naughty novels. But she is.

Rule #2: Do not fall in love

When she approaches her publisher, rakish Liam MacGregor, with an indecent proposal, he's shocked. But he accepts.

Rules were made to be broken...

The requirements for their affair are simple: complete secrecy, and no romantic attachment. But the more they see each other... the more pleasure they find in each other's arms... the harder it becomes to remember the rules...

Had a good storyline and wished it had been longer. It is a short novella with a sweet but scandalous secret trist. Will love be found or heartache? I know but you'll have to read it yourself to find out.

Loved the story of Liam and Bathsheba! The story line was a nice build up to their love and the writing made it easy to see the love developing!

The Secret Of My Seduction by Caroline Linden is a well-written historical romance. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Linden has given us a book loaded with amazing, lovable characters. Bathsheba secretly writes naughty books to support her injured brother and herself. Liam is her publisher and the only person that knows about her writing. Bathsheba and Liam's story is loaded with drama, humor, and smokin' hot sex. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Caroline Linden soon. I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Just finished this series and loved every book. Enjoyed how the main character from one book showed up in their own stories.

After seduction comes... “Seduction is the art of making a woman fall in love with you, to bare her heart, to see her soul, to know her so deeply and intimately you would happily lose yourself in her and never want to be found." (Liam) The story starts chronologically after the book "six degrees of scandal". It's the last book/novella in the Scandal serie. You don't have to read the previous books but you're missing out on something if you don't :-) Bathsheba Crawford is the very succesful author of "Tales of Lady X", wickedly, sensuous stories. She's not a real beauty but what she lacks in beauty, she makes up for in brains. She feels that her stories are becoming stale. Since she never experienced real passion,  she is quite curious about it and wants to discover it first handed "I lack deeper knowledge of my subject.”(Bathsheba) Liam MacGregor, who is her publisher, is also a first class rake. She turns to him to help her gather a deep knowledge of her subject. They agree upon 3 nights. What starts as a business proposal becomes sooo much more. I really liked the story. Although it's a novella, it doesn't feel rushed. You see the characters gradually falling in love, afraid to show their emotions, hoping, holding back, embrassing. I really liked Liam. "I believed you did not love me, nor want to love me, so I avoided it. I did not want to fall in love with you, so I resisted. “But I am helpless to change my own feelings"(Liam) There are a lot of sentences like this in the book, words to be savoured. Caroline Linden really did a great job again, I'll miss the Scandall series.

The Secret of my Seduction by Caroline Linden is the finale of the "Scandals" series. While, book 7 in the series it can be read as a stand alone. A novella, only about 95 pages, but packed full of witty banter, seduction, secrets, and does not feel rushed but definitely satisfying. What happens when a mysterious noblewoman who writes and publishs anonymously, of course, titillating, naughty novels, meets the rakish Liam MacGregor, why shocking seduction that's what! Let the seduction begin.... This is the story of Liam MacGregor and Bathsheba Crawford. Liam is the publisher of a mysterious author's scandalous novels. A fun but very sensual tale. Will Liam and Bathsheba find love and a HEA, once all the secrets are revealed. Ms. Linden writes sensual, but beautiful stories of love, passion, and HEA. Fans of Regency romance are sure to enjoy this story. Very enticing and entertaining. A great read for an afternoon read! Enjoyable and satisfying. Strongly recommended. Delightful little novella finishing up the Scandals series. Reading the entire series is not necessary for this story, but will help a bit with context. It's also a great series! This particular story is steamier than I would expect (and normally prefer) for a novella, but for this plot it really works. The characters are well developed, and while there were some side characters I would have loved to see more of, there are some obvious limitations from it not being a full length novel. Highly recommended!

I've received this eArc in exchange for an honest review. After reading a small novella by Caroline Linden in Dressed to Kiss, I knew I had a new author to follow. When the opportunity to read this book came up, I didn’t hesitate. The Secret of my Seduction has a very appropriate title because that’s all the book is about. The seduction of…is it of Bathsheba Crawford, the main female character, or could it be the seduction of Liam MacGregor? It’s true that it’s Bathsheba the one who proposes that Liam teaches her flirtation and seduction, but, it’s Liam that, even though he finds it odd that the author of erotic romances needs to come to him for advice, accepts her proposal, “for business sake”. I really liked their chemistry, the fact that they had already known each other for some time, not just “love at first sight”, but something that grew between them. There were some seduction lessons and my only con against the book is…. how short it is! I wanted their relationship to be a bit more developed, more explored, in every way. The amount that was given, I really liked it, but I wanted more, that’s why I’m not giving it a higher score. It was a book that I read really quickly and that gave me immense pleasure to read.

This is fast moving, seductive story, one I wasn’t able to put it down until the satisfying ending. While it is the coda to the Scandal series, it is unnecessary to read the other books in the series to enjoy it, although I do recommend reading them all. Bathsheba is an unconventional heroine, secretly fascinated with her business partner, Liam. When she propositions him, he responds and takes over her seduction attempts. Ultimately, she wins his heart with her brilliance and passion.

I love Scandalous series. I've been waiting for this book since reading Lady X storyline. Caroline, you wrote the perfect ending to this series. I fell in love with Liam in All's Fair in Love. I'm so happy to have him to the lead in storyline. Bathsheba is amazing, determined spinster who wants to be loved and find out about passion. Bathsheba and Liam together are perfect example of odds attracting. Their affair showed how two people came find love with someone if you're willing to take a risk. Thank you Caroline for amazing story

London - 1823 Bathsheba Crawford, age 29, is a friendly young woman who doesn’t have any particular beauty or skills and is considered to simply be a spinster. However, she is a very smart lady and retains conversations verbatim. Bathsheba lost her parents to illness and the family’s printing business failed. In addition, her brother returned from the war having lost an arm. So to help make money, she decided to anonymously write and print a story called “Fifty Ways to Sin” which was a huge hit. Then she began anonymously writing her own erotic stories. Bathsheba has been working with newspaper owner, Liam McGregor, to print her stories and now she is approaching him with a proposition. She needs experience of the subject about which she writes and asks him to be the one to assist her. At first, Liam is shocked and hesitant to comply with her request, but he finally agrees. Liam lives alone in a house just outside town so he invites her to visit him there for their “lessons.” There, he introduces her to passion that is more than she could have ever hoped for. As both are enjoying themselves, could this turn into something more permanent? OK. I will be honest in saying that usually I am not fond of erotic novels. However, the author has skillfully written passionate scenes and not just “porn.” There is a difference and Caroline Linden wrote it amazingly well. Be sure to read this book. Love like this is beautiful. Copy provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was a fun, quick romp featuring a strong heroine named Bathsheba, an accommodating hero named Liam and some VERY sensual love scenes! Love how Caroline Linden writes love, romantic and memorable! My favorite scene (last chapter) involves what was written in a notebook....swoon-worthy! 4.3/5 I was provided an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Bathsheba Crawford is brilliant but plain-looking. When her parents died, she and her younger brother Daniel were left alone, and Daniel having been injured in the war, was unable to work, so Bathsheba put her talents to good use. The Crawfords had a printing business, Bathsheba had a talent for writing stories, and her first book was a smash hit. That’s also how she knew of Liam MacGregor, owner and publisher of the gossip sheet the London Intelligencer. Bathsheba and Liam were already business partners, and her stories are earning him big money. But Bathsheba comes to Liam with a most unusual proposal: she writes romances, but she needs more experience in the pleasures of the flesh to make her stories more realistic, and who but Liam to teach her, he’s a known rogue, after all. They get along well, she knows he will keep her secret – after all, he has never revealed that she is the author of passionate love stories – he’s the ideal candidate, isn’t he? THE SECRET OF MY SEDUCTION is the latest from the brilliant Caroline Linden, and given that it is part of the Scandals series, it’s a treat for everyone that the book reads as a standalone without a problem. Ms. Linden delights us again with quite an unconventional pair, as both Bathsheba and Liam flout conventions, if not openly. He is the one to be a tad reluctant at Bathsheba’s scandalous offer, but he is a gentleman, and inasmuch as he doesn’t want her to seek other men, he does come to fancy her, more than he thought. Bathsheba and Liam share terrific banter; they are both clever, they respect each and understand each other. THE SECRET OF MY SEDUCTION is a novella, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well fleshed out the characters were, and they both have full backstories. I was a bit sad at how little Bathsheba thinks of her appearance, how she accepts being dull and plain, how she relishes it even, even though it serves her purpose to remain somewhat invisible, being firmly on the shelf and having given hope of finding true love. Caroline Linden’s writing is as lush and beautiful as ever, and she sweeps the reader in the very sensuous mood of the book. In spite of the theme, I was a bit surprised at how much sex there is in THE SECRET OF MY SEDUCTION, but it is gorgeously depicted, and not gratuitous in the least. THE SECRET OF MY SEDUCTION is a glorious example that you can mix pleasure with business! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

What a delightful new novella from Caroline Linden. It is short and so very sweet!!! I loved the characters, although there was really only the two main characters in the story. You saw a couple of appearances by their brothers, but nothing extensive. The two characters were just made for each other and this book is about them coming to realize that. He's a publisher - she writes naughty stories even though she has no to little experience. He teaches her passion - she teaches him love. Again, a great little read!

Oh la la ladies this is phenomenal! Bathsheba Crawford a mousy almost plain young woman but with a sharp mind and memory has a secret life....she writes naughty books anonymously, she can't be found out it would be scandalous! Her writing brings enough money to live comfortably, she lives through her stories but it's the lack of experience she needs for more writing material and she gets that by the truckload! Liam MacGregor owner and publisher of the Intelligencer a smart business minded man with good looks that makes him a rogue with the ladies is slightly stunned when he gets propositioned. The more he thinks on it the better he likes the idea. What started as a business venture turned into something more for both. This is a treat for the senses, well written and detailed of Bathsheba's feelings towards Liam in her silent infatuation, what started out as a seduction had both their hearts engaged. The reader will definitely need a tall glass of ice water maybe a fan! Caroline Linden knows how to turn the on the heat, her stories are well written and entertaining with witty dialogue and humour. The only drawback it was slightly short. I received an ARC from the author for my honest unbiased opinion. 4 1/2 stars Heat sizzling

Caroline's books are always great. Love that the heroine is older than the typical historical heroine

I really liked this story. I've not read the other books in the series and I didn't have any trouble following along with this, so I definitely say you could read it as a stand alone. I loved that Bathsheba wanted to learn more about lovemaking to make her books more believable. Who better to ask than the man who has been publishing her books all along? Liam initially says no to Bathsheba's offer, but then changes his mind. I'm so glad that he did! I loved watching the interaction between Bathsheba and Liam. The bantering back and forth had me laughing out loud. I also loved watching them go from friendship to falling in love even though neither of them had set out to find love. I'm definitely going to have to go back and read the rest of the series to see how Bathsheba ended up writing her scandalous books, although it is discussed a little in this book. This was a quick, very enjoyable read that you MUST pick up!!

I have read and loved all of Caroline Linden's books and this short read is a wonderful ending to the Scandals series. Bathsheba Crawford writes the popular Tales of Lady X while not having full knowledge of her subject matter. Liam MacGregor, her publisher, is surprised when she asks him to teach her what she lacks, sensual pleasure. At first he thinks it's a bad idea, but then goes along with it when she says she'll find some other man. But can a few nights turn into true love? Read this novella and find out. I enjoyed it! Thanks Caroline Linden for the ARC
