Another amazing historical romance set amid the Crimean War with the doctors and nurses who strove to save lives and rehabilitate soldier's after their injuries. I really was not prepared for the emotions that seeped through the pages of this story. The hero, Cameron MacKay was a brilliant surgeon, who had so many mental scars from his past he was determined to atone by saving as many lives as possible. While in Turkey he meets Nightingale nurse, Elissa Lockwood, who is all light and compassion. Cam begins to have hope that he can be happy and in love as he and Elissa draw close together. But circumstances puts distance between the two as Cam is sent to the front line and Elissa is sent back to England when dismissed by the hospital. As the two correspond, Cam eventually sends a missive breaking off with Elissa and leaves her heart crushed. As fate would have it and with some help from a wonderful friend, the two end up working at the same hospital and rehab center in London. What had happened to Cam and why did he keep his distance? The author has breathed life into the characters to the point I could feel their joys and pain and experience the surroundings like I was there. I am now fascinated by this time period and hope there are many more stories to this series. Thank you Sheri Humphreys for opening up a new time and place in history!Lori Dykes

There is nothing better than finding a new author that you love and that author is Sheri Humphreys. The Seduction of Cameron MacKay is the 2nd book in The Nightingales series and is the very first book I have read of Sheri’s but it is defiantly not the last. This book can be read as a standalone but you can bet I will be reading the 1st book in this series,The Unseducible Earl, very soon. Sheri brings so many emotions and truths to her story of war, destruction and healing. Her characters seem so real and her descriptions are so vivid you can picture them in your mind. This is one of those stories that when you read it the world around no longer exists. I found her to be a truly talented writer with a special gift to detail. This story has medical caring, kindness, guilt, evil, abuse, alcoholism, self loathing, death, loss, hard work, patients, war, injuries, friendships, respect, misunderstandings, trust, an assassination, sponsorship, donations, amputations, surgeries, working together, scandal, lies, ruination, getting dismissed from duty, revenge but does it have love? This is a must read and I highly recommend this book and author, you won't be disappointed! Travel back in time to 1855 Koulali Hospital, Turkey with Nightingale Nurse Elissa Lockwood and Cameron Mackay, Medical Surgeon. ***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

I was gifted a copy of this book. I truly believe that I have found a treasure in the writing of Sheri Humphreys. This particular story – The Seduction of Cameron Mackay – is a gripping romance. Humphrey’s tale is like riding a massive roller coaster. At first, you are moved slowly up a giant track with jarring starts and stops but then you reach the top, suddenly plunging down and coasting through tight turns and steep slopes – a heart pounding, gut wrenching ride. I couldn’t put it down. Humphreys uses her medical knowledge with astute expertise. It deepens the story and never takes away from it. A wonderful romance! Can’t wait to read more heart pounding stuff! Come for the ride. You won’t regret it.
