Throughout the horrifying months since the alien Vymalns conquered Earth, Kara Michaels has managed to elude capture.

Until now.

She is about to lose hope when she is rescued by Seeker Aiodhan Reil, an elite warrior of Tirios sent to Earth by the Praemons, precognizant children who can predict which Vymalns will threaten their homeworld.

Although intimidated by his strength, Kara is drawn to Aiodhan’s air of mystery. Upon discovering that he is also an alien, she fears that his race will pose an additional threat to Earth’s freedom.

Aiodan’s mission doesn’t include falling in love with a human female or liberating her father from an internment camp. He must find a way to keep his vows and still protect Kara, just as she must put aside her hatred of aliens to allow Aiodhan into her heart. Only then can they work together to rescue humankind from cruel enslavement.

The Vymains, a bug/lizard like alien, have infiltrated earth. They befriended mankind only to betray them, enslave them and harvest the resources of this world. Aiodhan, another alien, is sent by his planet seers to kill a key figure in the Vymain hierarchy; thereby removing a future threat to his world. He didn’t count on crash landing and meeting Kara Michaels. Kara Michaels is a woman on the run from Vymain enslavement or death. When she is rescued by Aiodhan, Kara and Aiodhan become reluctant allies; allies that soon grow into a deep attraction. Aiodhan is as James’ puts it a “Tarzan” type male figure, while Kara is definitely not the withering damsel in distress; making for some very interesting and highly entertaining interactions. James’ provides a brilliantly conceived post apocalyptic world. The circumstances are dire but humanity fights on with or without help. I’ve read everything from James’ contemporary and historical romances to her scifi fantasy and have to say The Seeker is one of my favorites by this author. She includes her marvelous witty and sassy characters with a strong and seductive romance, but it was the imaginative twist and scifi aspect that pulled me in and kept me riveted to this story. I hope this is the beginning to a new series because this is a world I would love to explore more. I received this copy in the original anthology release from Sandy James.

Earth has been conquered by alien beings. For Kara Michaels, her goal has been to survive, to elude capture, but the odds were always stacked against her and her luck has run out. Enter the mysterious Aiodhan Reil, her rescuer, a man with a mission of his own. Large and powerful, Aiodhan is an elite warrior from another world, sent to destroy the leader of the Vymalns. Can he also help save the inhabitants of Earth? Should Kara trust him? He promises salvation but is it another alien trick to further enslave her planet? Aiodhan discovers he has feelings for the feisty human, clearly against his vows and his mission, but he wants nothing more than to protect Kara and heed her pleas to save her world. Will she learn to put aside hatred and learn to trust in this incredible warrior? Together not only could they free her world, keep his world safe, but possibly find a love that truly knows no boundaries. The Seeker by Sandy James is a tale of survival and a chance at feeling the power of universal love. Be prepared for classic Sandy James humor, quick-witted dialogue and proof that even a knuckle-dragging alpha from another world can become putty in the hands of one feisty human female who will not be held under the thumb of another! Among devastation, love always finds its way with Sandy James’ talented pen! Previously released in the anthology, Sing A Song of the Stars I received this copy from Sandy James in exchange for my honest review.

Kara Michaels is an everyday nurse that's dealing with Earth being invaded by aliens. The aliens supposed peace didn't last long before they decided to destroy things and enslave humans. Trying her best to survive on her own, Kara roams in hopes she can find her brother and father. Then one day Kara is fighting one of the bug eyed aliens (Vymaln) only to be rescued by a hunky man. It comes as a shock to her that her knight in shining armor is an alien. He's not the same as the ones trying to take over Earth, his mission is to destroy Vymaln. Though their conversation is a bit rocky at times in the beginning, Aiodhan Reil picks up more and more English as the book progresses. He doesn't get it 100% right even at the end, there are words he gets wrong occasionally. In some cases it lead to amusement, others it was endearing and it also left a bit more realistic vibe to the story. I'm not really a huge alien fan when it comes to books, and I know quite a few of my readers aren't either. I will tell you that Aiodhan reads more like a human alpha male. He's possessive, he wants things done his way, and he's a warrior. I found myself enjoying his character and wondering what he'd do next. Kara and Aiodhan worked well together, and it lead to an enjoyable read. The Seeker is one of my top post apocalyptic stories to date. I will admit that I love Sandy James's work enough that I'd follow it into any genre though. I'd recommend this read if you enjoy alien or post-apocalyptic romance.

The Seeker is by Sandy James and was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by the author. It has been so long since I have read one of Sandy James Books and I had forgotten how much I love them. This book, the first in a brand new series, was amazing. I loved every single thing about it. It was fun, sweet, sexy and suspenseful. The characters won me over from the very beginning. Kara Michaels and her dog, Chance, are alone. They’ve been alone now for awhile, trying to survive in a world she never would have imagined herself in just a short time ago. Aliens known as Vymalns have come to earth. At first they claimed to be peaceful, to want to share the planet with humans. But that didn’t last long. The Vymalns quickly imprisoned or killed almost all of the humans on earth, the ones left alive are forced into slavery. Kara has managed to evade them so far, barely finding enough to eat to survive. But she fears that is all about to end. She has come face to face with a Vymaln and she is captured with no way out. Aiodhan Reil is a Seeker. He is from the planet Tirian and his soul purpose in life is to kill Vymalns. Aiodhan looks exactly the same as a human except for his eyes. He has a specific mission on earth, a specific Vymaln he has been sent to kill. And this mission does not include stopping to save a small human woman he sees being dragged through the woods by a Vymaln. But he can’t help himself, he can’t seem to just turn his back on her. Kara is rescued by the hottest example of a man she has ever seen. And she is thrilled with the idea of having some company. She’s been alone for so long. It doesn’t take her long, though, to figure out that this isn’t a human man. Still, he rescued her, and he’s very very easy on the eyes. Can she trust him? He’s another alien, although a better looking one. Kara and Aiodhan’s relationship starts out a little rocky but they soon learn to trust each other. Aiodhan has a limited understanding of the English language so his attempts to understand Kara’s constant stream of conversation is hilarious. It doesn’t take long for the attraction between them to grow. Aiodhan decides that Kara is to be his mate. And on his planet, once he claims a mate, she will obey him. This notion doesn’t go over very well with Kara as you might imagine. Kara and Aiodhan eventually find a small settlement of rebels and nearby is an internment camp where Vymalns are living and keeping human prisoners. Kara hopes that perhaps her father might be held in the camp. As Kara and Aiodhan spend time with the settlement of other rebels, their relationship grows closer. But, what happens when Aiodhan completes his mission? He says he is bound to return to his own planet. He has claimed her as his mate, but will he leave her here with all the danger or would he ever stay? This book had everything that I love in it. The relationship between Kara and Aiodhan was so funny as they constantly bantered. But at the same time, they managed to create plenty of steam on those cold nights in their tent. The secondary characters were all amazing. There is a second female seeker at the camp with Aiodhan, Pashmar. There is Bill, the camp leader, and Kevin, Kara’s brother. I loved them all.

3.5 – 3.75 stars--THE SEEKER is a post- apocalyptic, science fiction/paranormal romance where an evil race of lizard-like aliens known as the Vymalns has descended upon Earth. The humans have become nothing more than slaves as the Vymalns set about to destroy what’s left of Earth’s natural resources. Enter Aiodhan- a humanoid male of the Tirios species whose job as a ‘Seeker’ finds our storyline hero caught between doing his job and the human woman with whom he is falling in love. Aiodhan, along with Pashmar, a fellow female Seeker are sent from Tirios each with a specific assignment but neither one was ever meant to remain on Earth. Aiodhan will meet Kara Michaels when he saves her from an attack by the Vymalns and a relationship between he and Kara will set into motion a series of events that finds our couple in a human encampment close to where the Vymalns have imprisoned Kara’s father and several other human slaves. The relationship between Kara and Aiodhan is one of immediate attraction. Aiodhan is a beautiful, over protective, alpha Tirios warrior, and Kara, a human female nurse, is about to become his intended mate but first our leading couple must defend themselves against attacks by the Vymalns, and the prejudicial specieism of Kara’s fellow humans and Aiodhan’s friend Pashmar. The $ex scenes are intimate; there are no over the top graphic erotic $ex scenes. There are a number of secondary and supporting characters including Kara’s brother Kevin and her father-a veterinarian –who has been commanded by the Vymalns as their resident physician. We are introduced to the survivors at the camp-several of whom have specific talents and jobs –that are reminiscent of military troops preparing for battle. Aiodhan will find himself protector of two human children who have prophesized the upcoming battles and threats to the survivors. The world building is very reminiscent of ‘The Walking Dead’ especially as it pertains to the prison, the hierarchy of positions within the camp, and some of the characters whose personalities rival some of the cast of TWD. That is not to say there are any ‘walkers or zombies’ but the storyline energy and some of the scenarios are familiar. THE SEEKER is an entertaining storyline with colorful characters and animated personalities. The romance between Kara and Aiodhan is loving and sensitive; there are no overt erotic scenarios or questionable alien rituals. The action scenes are limited as it pertained to the take down of the ‘internment camp’, and the encounters with the Vymalns are few and far between. I did have a couple of issues with the story especially the lack of background information and history of the alien invasion. Although THE SEEKER is a work of science fiction, I need answers and explanations as to the how and why-the reality is in the believability and I need to believe. There are several characters with potential stories, and the Vymalns still remain a threat throughout the world. Pashmar’s storyline is next in the series.
