I've just finished reading 'The Sett'(1996) - a novel by Sir Ranulph Fiennes. While most of us will be aware of Sir Rannulph's adventure exploits this was the first of his novels I have read and to be honest I didn't have any great expectations. I thought it would be just another famous person having a half hearted stab at novel writing. How wrong I was. This book blew me away! The writing is excellent and many of the events of the time (1980s) are woven into the intriguing story. It is a book with some disturbing moments, so not suitable for everyone. I was even more stunned to find that despite this being a novel (or is it?) it mentions somewhere I used to work and names a person I worked with - amazing. This book is a corker!
