To us, first responders are heroes. But for them, risking their lives is a normal, everyday thing.

Born the baby of the family, Mudflap has always had something to prove to emerge out of the shadows of his older siblings. He spent eight years as a Special Ops elite sniper and is now a firefighter. But at his heart, he's just a normal West Texas good old boy who loves his beer, women and football, until the Department of Defense calls him up to say they need his skills again.

Shanae is a first responder of a different sort. She's a trauma nurse who works on a medical evacuation helicopter team. But while she lives a life full of adrenaline every day, it's just a cover for her real life, where she hides in the shadows and is secret agent, Shadowfox for the Lubbock Foxtrot Team (LiFT). She's living the kind of life that most people think exists only in movies and books.

Working for two different branches of the government, Mudflap and Shanae are in a race against time and the terrorists who threaten the very heart of West Texas life, football. They're working toward the same goal, but find themselves in a confrontation against each other and the lies they've each had to hide behind. Can love win out in the end or will the cost be each other and their very lives?

First responders are heroes every day, but this story tells the tale of when they become even more and find love along the way. The key is for them to stay alive so that they can complete their mission and just maybe live happily ever after.

On an ordinary day, they save lives. On an extraordinary day, they save the country.

(All the proceeds from this novel will go to the Lubbock, TX Red Cross.)

The Shadow of Mudflap is funny, romantic, suspenseful, full of Texan charm, and did I mention football! Shanea and Mudflap are great characters that really compliment one another. Shanea is an undercover spy that is working on finding the terrorists that are threatening Lubbock Football (the horror!) Her code name is Shadowfox and she is a member of the Lubbock Foxtrot Team. She also works as a trauma nurse on a first responder evacuation helicopter. Mudflap (yep that is his name) is a firefighter, but he was also an elite Special Ops sniper, when the government asks him to help catch the terrorist he jumps at the chance to help protect and save his town, and their favorite pastime! When Shanea and Mudflap meet sparks fly, hormones collide, and tom foolery abound! Every step of the way this book just gets better and better. Our heroes make a great team and they are quite frankly perfect for one another. Mudflap is sexy and charming, with an Alpha edge, and a great big heart. Shanea is beautiful, sexy, smart, and can kick some ass! Put them together and these terrorist don’t stand a chance! Go out and buy this great book and all the proceeds will go toward the Lubbock Red Cross (yep it is a real town)! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Christi does know how to create mayhem in town, Texas always suffer with her attack, but it does makes for better books. It’s always impressive how she can destroy the town she loves, but she makes good stuff with her heroes and this time it wasn’t different. Despise the fact Mudflap is a really strange name, the character is actually a nice fellow. I liked the fact he has some training from his time in the army and that after all those years, he decide to help people after leaving the Army. Shanae is like Wonder Woman and she does have superpowers, especially with her seduction, but thing I did not understand was her ex acting like a stalker in the book, weird stuff. But Shanae is a nice girl and I liked the fact she’s a spy and a very good one. Mudflap was deceive for a little time, but he picked up real fast. Of course these two made the perfect time, because Mudflap has some training and Shanae is deadly, but we can see during their moments together that these two have some chemistry and really deserve to find some happiness. I liked the fact Mudflap understands Shanae job and even trust her, that was the best part for me, because we can clearly see this is the important stuff for her. This a shorter novel and I read in one sitting, but the story is full of action, can’t wait for more Foxtrot investigations.

Mudflap Davidson wakes up thinking today is just like any day as a fire fighter. That is until he gets the call that lands his partner in ICU, meets the woman that can knock him on his ass, and finds out he just got involved in something that he never saw coming. Mudflap's about to get tossed into a world of secret forces with hidden agendas, government agencies that technically don't exist, and people all around him leading double lives. The Shadow of Mudflap was a blast to read, very fast paced and detailed without bombarding you. Mudflap and Shanae were great characters, well developed, and very relatable. It was nice to read characters who were comfortable in who they are. While neither was perfect we didn't spend chapters reading about their issues and past transgressions, they showed their flaws and did the best with them. That's not to say we didn't get a history on both characters, it just wasn't embellished to the point of outrageousness. The story was edgy and gave you a look into first responders that made you feel like you were really along for the ride. I never guessed the ending, which was a nice treat for an active reader. All in all a very promising start to a suspense series

Another wonderful read by talented author Christi Snow. I loved The Shadow of Mudflap, and eagerly await future instalments. I was so pleased to be a part of something that this book has been fundraise for too. Congratulations M.F. Smith and Christi Snow for your admirable passion. Mudflap was a wonderful Hero. Gorgeous, thoughtful, cocky, yet humble, he was easy to love. He struggled with guilt. It plagued him and contributed to self-doubt. Especially when confronted with keeping his brother out of harm's way. Especially when he'd found a woman to love; a woman who was also in danger.  Men served one purpose for tough-chick, Shanae. Previous hurt had paved each brick of the wall of safety surrounding her heart. Her job was dangerous. She was feisty, funny and lethal. After all, she was a spy! She'd never had such a visceral response to a man before meeting Mudflap. He oozed testosterone and sexiness, that she found too hard to ignore. The connection she felt with him scared her, but also exhilarated her.  Christi Snow knows how to get your heart rate up. I love her writing. Not only does she cover serious, danger with appropriate, meticulous detail, but also with an intensity that keeps you captivated. Her writing is intense, and it sizzles. Like this scene. "He was thick and hard, stretching her just to the edge of pain as he thrust into her. Already her climax was so close. Several thrusts later, her internal muscles began to ripple and contract in growing ecstasy." Just as beautifully, she sprinkles her work with humor, always at the right time to provide needed levity.  Written with alternating points of view, it was a wonderful way to stay close to the characters and their struggles, joys and hornyness!! (is that a word??) There is something to be said for text messages in a novel. Snow uses them brilliantly to walk the reader through the burgeoning relationship of Mudflap & Shanae. The focus on Texas and their love of football, in the midst of a terrorist organisation which threatened the safety and security of college life in Lubbock, Texas, was skillfully juggled. Mudflap was a great read from start to finish. It will keep you captivated if you enjoy a bit of spy/action/romance with strong characters, inspiring credible plot, and have a good sense of fun as well. I can't wait to see what this new writing duo create next. Thank you Christi Snow for the ARC of Mudflap in return of an honest review.
