The Shore of the Unknown

The Shore of the Unknown

by Donald J. Young

The Shore of the Unknown Is a collection of personal, meditative poems. Young has written in the foreward that "I was indebted to the work of Rumi, the Persian poet (1207-1273) whose poems revealed a language of the spirit which helped me to understand certain experiences I had."

Among other meditative poems, we have the following titles:"Three Famous Men,", which deals with the nature of Eliot, Frost and Einstein, in their "common acts of courtesy"; "On Dreams", which shows what dreams fail to tell us; "Out of the Closet", a thoughtful consideration of the number of famous individuals who have revealed their sexual identity; "The War", a reverie on the author's war experiences, and "On the Dead", showing the influence of the dead on our everyday lives.
